Pink for a Purpose 💖

In support of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, Delta people wear pink uniforms - a tradition started by a  Delta flight attendant and breast cancer survivor more than 15 years ago!

Over the past 19 years, Delta has raised $28 million for BCRF, funding life-saving research and supporting 112 research projects.

Now taking flight, drones at Delta TechOps!
 
Delta is the first U.S. commercial operator to receive FAA acceptance to use drones for general visual inspections of our aircraft.
 
While the drones (Dolly and Reba) are autonomous, our trained technicians and inspectors keep an eye on their flight and conduct the inspection and determine airworthiness from the ground.

Today, 900 Delta people across the country participated in the 9/11 Day of Service supporting meal packing events to honor and remember those who lost their lives in the 9/11 attacks.

The future is taking flight! ✈️
 
On Friday, June 28, we hosted young women from Ivy Preparatory Academy in Atlanta, where they toured our OCC, Delta Flight Museum, experienced the flight simulators and heard from an inspirational panel of female Delta leaders.  
 
Ivy Prep Academy is the first single-gender charter school for girls in Georgia, cultivating female leaders who manifest change in the world. Through this inaugural program, these young ladies learned the importance of perseverance, critical thinking and advocacy. 
 
This event marks an important step in Delta’s commitment to gender equity and inspiring the next generation in aviation. As we continue our climb towards the future we will keep investing in the next generation and reminding young girls to reach for the skies.

As we approach our 100th anniversary, we reflect on former CEO Jerry Grinstein’s transformational impact on our core values.

Jerry made his first impression on Delta when, as the CEO of Western Airlines, he led the merger of the two airlines in 1987, which made us the fourth-largest U.S. airline. As Delta’s CEO in 2004, he guided us through bankruptcy, reinstating our people-first culture. Known for his servant leadership, Jerry built strong relationships and truly cared for Delta people.

“Keeping focus on our people is what Jerry knew. It’s what Jerry embedded with our leadership team. It’s why we are where we are.” -Ed

When Jerry was awarded a stock grant, he established a scholarship and hardship fund instead. Today, the Care Fund, supported by employee donations, has given over $31 million in grants and remains a prime example of Delta people helping Delta people. 

Honoring his legacy, our Executive Building is now named after Jerry, symbolizing the values that will guide us into the next century.

“This building really belongs to the people of Delta - the genius of the people and their will to continue through difficult times,” Jerry said during the event. “You can’t help but have a passion for this company. It’s the top of the industry, and there’s no one quite like it.”

In 2023, we asked all domestic Delta employees to go for the Gold and design a Team USA Paris 2024 pin. The top three finalists would have an opportunity to win gold, silver and bronze prizes.  
 
Brittany B., TechOps Engineer Liaison, took home gold! Brittany’s creative eye and passion started in her early years when she designed 2D cookie art. Brittany applied the same elements such as line, shape, color and texture to her design.  
 
“I wanted to ensure that I represented both Delta and Team USA proudly in my design. I chose a track to represent the summer Olympics pics and positioning the plane crossing the finish line in 1st place with the nose of the plane tilted slightly up to represent “Keep Climbing” 
 
We can’t wait to see Brittany proudly sporting her pin at the Paris games!

Austin’s shooting stars! 💫

Delta people gathered together to host a solar eclipse watch party for grade K-9 students at KIPP Austin Paseo Primary and Paseo Prep.

Emulating the Solar Flight customer experience in the sky, we provided students, teachers, and staff with custom Warby Parker eclipse-viewing glasses, Delta swag and solar eclipse-themed treats to enjoy the monumental event on the ground in the path of totality.
