Thank you so much for joining us on this journey of teaching, learning, living, and loving. We welcome you on Jojo’s Journey and hope that you enjoy the ride.
If you know me (Kathy) you most likely know that my first Tanzanian “son,” Elphas, passed away in 2022 at the age of twenty-six.
I was destitute and in shock for months having lost my beloved father the year prior. And my 13 1/2 year old dog, Hunter, smack in between Dad and Mijo.
I felt that I had lost the whole Tanzanian culture at the same time-a culture in which I was slowly falling in love.
And amongst the thousands of wonderful kids in my life, Elphas was the first to call me, “Mama.”
I never again thought I’d hear those precious words or the beautiful formality of the Queen’s English or the melodic Swahili language.
Can you imagine how grateful I am to have this brilliant, helpful, beautiful young man in my live?
Joseph has given me a reason to stay. ❤️
