We spent last weekend in Asheville looking for art and eating the most delicious food. I did not expect to have such a strong reaction to the Customer Service we experienced in every shop and at every restaurant. Ashville welcomes visitors with open arms and loving hearts. We spoke to so many people working in stores as we strolled through the town, learning about the effects of Helene and the efforts to rebuild since September 2024.
Ann chose the best restaurants for dinner. Thursday night, we dined at Curate, a tapas restaurant with a diverse selection of Spanish food. We marked our menus to be sure we all ordered a varied selection to share. On Friday night, we ate at the Lobster Trap. I chose Grilled Lobster and it did not disappoint.
I loved the creative use of large spaces like a Kress Building and a Woolworth's as venues for artists to share. So inspiring. Don't forget to look up; the architecture is so surprising.
Our hotel, the Cambria, was ideally located within walking distance of the whole downtown. Each morning, we chose a new place to have breakfast, Tupolo Honey was a winner. The Cambria has a rooftop bar to enjoy the views and an after-dinner drink.
If you are thinking of a quick getaway, Asheville is a great choice.
