My imagination kept returning to Argentina. 🇦🇷

I started imagining a journey that would bring together three very different sides of the country: the energy of Buenos Aires, the traditions of the Pampas, and the vast wilderness of Patagonia.

There’s the energy and culture of Buenos Aires - its neighborhoods, gardens, food, music, and unmistakable sense of place.

Then there’s the Pampas, where countryside traditions, horses, craftsmanship, food, and the culture of the gaucho offer a completely different perspective on Argentina.

And then Patagonia: vast landscapes, glaciers, mountains, and the kind of scenery that makes you stop and take it all in.

City. Countryside. Wilderness.

Three very different experiences, woven together into one journey.

That's what I'm looking for when I create a small-group trip - not simply a collection of beautiful places, but a journey with a sense of story, connection, and discovery.

A journey that gives you the energy of a great city, the opportunity to experience another side of the culture, and finally the awe of one of the world's extraordinary landscapes.

What makes Buenos Aires so captivating? 🇦🇷

There is something about this city that immediately draws me in - the contrast of it all.

Grand and intimate.
Colorful and elegant.
Energetic and beautifully slow.

I'm imagining days spent wandering through distinctive neighborhoods, discovering beautiful gardens, lingering over coffee, enjoying long Argentine lunches, and experiencing the music and movement of tango.

These are the experiences I'm thinking about as I shape my November 2027 Argentina journey.

I don't want to simply move from one landmark to the next. I want to create a journey that allows travelers to experience the character and rhythm of the city - to slow down, wander, linger, and discover.

And Buenos Aires is only the first chapter.

From here, we'll head south to El Calafate and the extraordinary landscapes of Patagonia - a completely different side of Argentina.

The Buenos Aires I Want to Discover 🇦🇷

Buenos Aires has been on my radar for a while, and as I shape my November 2027 Argentina journey, I'm thinking less about checking off the city's highlights and more about how I want the experience to feel.

The neighborhoods.

San Telmo, Recoleta, Palermo... each with its own personality, history, and rhythm. I want time to wander, explore, and experience the city rather than simply move from one attraction to another.

A day with the gauchos.

One of the experiences I'm most excited to incorporate is a day outside Buenos Aires, immersed in Argentina's traditional countryside culture. Horses, local food, stories, craftsmanship, and the traditions of the gaucho. It's a wonderful way to experience another side of Argentina beyond the city.

The food.

Argentine beef, empanadas, cafés, and long lunches that invite you to slow down and stay awhile. Food is such an important part of understanding a culture, and I want it to be woven naturally throughout the journey.

The tango.

Not simply as a performance, but as part of the culture and character of Buenos Aires. The music, movement, and atmosphere that make the city so distinctive.

And the gardens.

Buenos Aires has beautiful green spaces that offer a quieter counterpoint to the energy of the city. I love the idea of slowing the pace, wandering through gardens, and simply enjoying a different rhythm for a while.

These are the kinds of experiences I find most memorable when designing a journey: the things that help you feel like you're actually somewhere, rather than simply visiting it.

The kind of travel I love to create

I love the moments when you walk into a place and immediately want to stop and look around.

The architecture. The details. The history. The things you might have missed if you were rushing to the next stop.

That's one of the reasons I love small-group travel.

There’s a thoughtful itinerary and someone taking care of the details, but there should also be room to linger.

To wander.

To have a long lunch.

To stop because something catches your eye.

To experience a place rather than simply check it off a list.

That balance is what I'm creating for Barcelona + Catalonia next March.

Barcelona is easy to fall in love with. 🇪🇸

The architecture. The food. The art. The neighborhoods. The energy of the Mediterranean.

But for this journey, I wanted to go a little further.

Beyond the city, into Catalonia, where the pace changes and there is more time to wander, discover, eat well, explore, and experience a different side of northeastern Spain.

That's what makes this journey special to me.

Not just Barcelona.
Not just Catalonia.

The combination of the two.

I think I finally understand why I keep traveling.

Every time I travel, I come home with something I didn't know I was looking for.

Sometimes it's a new favorite place. Sometimes it's a new perspective. Sometimes it's simply the reminder that there is a very big world beyond our usual routines.

Travel has changed the way I see places, people, food, history, and even home.

And after all these years of traveling and planning journeys, I think that's still what draws me in most: the possibility of seeing something differently.

Of slowing down.

Of being curious.

Of meeting people who see the world differently than I do.

And of finding those little moments that stay with you long after you've returned home.

Maybe that's why I believe good travel needs room to breathe.

Not because the journey isn't thoughtfully planned. It is.

But because some of the most meaningful parts of travel happen when you have the time and space to be present for them.

A beautifully planned journey can still leave room for the unexpected.

I love planning travel. Every detail matters to me. The right hotel. The right experience. The right guide. The right pace.

But thoughtful planning doesn't mean filling every moment.

It means creating a journey with enough space for curiosity, spontaneity, and discovery.

The restaurant you decide to linger in.

The conversation with a local.

The afternoon with nowhere you need to be.

The unexpected little place that somehow becomes a favorite.

Details matter. So does the space between them.

That balance is at the heart of how I create custom travel. A journey that is beautifully planned, deeply personal, and still leaves room for you to experience a place in your own way.

There are special places and moments that have stayed with me.

I was looking through some of my travel photos recently and realized how many places I still think about long after returning home.

Not necessarily because of the famous sights, but because of the little things: a great meal, an unexpected conversation, a beautiful street, a local market, a view I wasn't expecting, or simply the feeling of being somewhere completely different.

That may be what I love most about travel. There is always another place to discover, another story to hear, and another reason to pack a bag.

🌿 Field Notes | Frida Kahlo & The Power of Place

Some places ARE a person’s story. For Frida Kahlo, that place was Mexico City.

Beyond the famous self-portraits and the image that has become recognized around the world, Frida’s life and art were deeply connected to her surroundings - her home, her gardens, Mexican traditions, and the culture that shaped her identity.

Walking through Casa Azul, it is impossible not to feel the connection between the artist and the place that inspired her. The colors, textures, and details reveal a story that goes far beyond the canvas.

This is one of the reasons I love cultural travel. A destination is not simply a collection of sights - it is a collection of stories, influences, and people who help us understand a place more deeply.
