Sometimes on a shipment like this, your customer may say "send me a step deck"

If you go with that you're subject to having an issue when the truck shows up and it's the wrong equipment.

This is 10'6" tall. Standard step decks are normally 42" deck height from the ground.

Going from TX to SC this would mean permits in 5 states. While that's easy enough to do, why have to pay and charge for permits, when with a little more time and effort, we can secure a reliable carrier with a low profile trailer, keeping the load legal all the way.

That's why our shipper sends a drawing with all dims and weight and we do the rest.

Choosing the right carrier for the load makes everything go smoothly and the shipment is on the ground at the receiver....safe and sound.

As a Freight Broker one of the most effective ways to provide great service is simply...availability

Many businesses these days work more that just 8-5 Mon-Fri

Some of my best opportunites when I first got started came because I was available after hours.
(Yes, we had to use pagers and then call them back-but it worked. That's another story 😎)

Especailly in the expedite world, if an aircraft or manufacturing line needs a part to continue to operate they can't wait until business hours

Being availble and able to handle situations after hours is one thing that makes us different

If your client has to ask for an update...you've missed the mark. Proactive communication is key 🔑

If your client asks where your truck is an hour after the appointment...you've missed the mark. If there is any issue, it's our job to know beforehand and keep everyone informed while it's resolved.

I've always told carriers and anyone that worked for me that we can deal with almost anything if communication is timely.

Things go wrong sometimes! Hard to believe I know 😂

It's how you handle those issues that can show how you are different.

In order to make sure we provide excellent, on-time service, it's important to have efficient tracking abilities.

Technology has changed this so much over the years.

Before many drivers had cell phones, we would normally have to call dispatch to get updates. That meant paging a driver, having them pull over to call in etc. Not very efficient and not convenient for the drivers at all

I once had an account with scheduled team loads out of TX every Friday that had to deliver on Mon 0800 all over the country

They required 2 check calls a day, even on weekends...😔

Now, with enhanced technology that is no longer the case 👏

At LDI, we have 2 different ways to keep up with our loads, all without ever disturbing our drivers.

By connecting to the drivers cell phone, we have GPS tracking on them throughout the trip without ever interrupting their schedule. This means if they are running late or anything we can know immediately and take corrective action and keep our client's informed. This also helps reduce theft and fraud.

Whether it's Macro Point or Trucker Tools, these are built into our TMS operating system so we are always in the loop

Instead of making multiple calls every morning to see if our trucks are where they are supposed to be, we simply open our TMS, check tracking and move on.

There are many benefits to using an independent Agent for your freight brokerage needs.

One of the main reasons is that you get the personalized service of a small business, backed by the resources and stability of a larger company.

With the current volatility in our industry, we rarely see Agent models go out of business. We don't run at a loss while promising profitability "in the near future" to some VC investment firm, only to shut down and lay off employees when that doesn't happen. Agents don't have that luxury.
