Sail wear isn't always obvious.

Often you'll notice the change in how the boat feels before you notice anything visually wrong with the sail.

More weather helm, difficulty finding your usual trim, changes in shape or wear around high-load areas can all be worth investigating.

You probably know the feeling.

The breeze seems fine, but the boat just isn't quite settled. You're carrying more helm than usual, heeling harder than expected, or constantly adjusting things trying to find the groove.

Before changing everything, start with the basics.

Look at your sail trim, check your telltales and pay attention to what you're feeling through the helm.

Small adjustments can make a surprisingly big difference.

And if something consistently feels wrong, that's worth a conversation with your local loft.

Every sailor starts somewhere.

For some, it's a local sailing school.

For others, it's a summer spent learning the basics with friends or family.

Whatever the boat, those first lessons stay with you. Learning to read the wind, steer a straight course, recover from mistakes, and, most importantly, discover the simple joy of being on the water.

Junior sailing has introduced generations of sailors to a sport they'll enjoy for a lifetime.
