One of the things I enjoy most about being part of our local Women in Business group is the opportunity to connect with other amazing women, support local businesses, and discover some hidden gems right here in Southern Illinois!

Our October gathering took us to The Dome at Blueberry Hill, and what a unique place! From the beautiful geodesic dome and its cozy accommodations to the peaceful wooded surroundings, this property is definitely something special. 🏡✨

A special thank-you to Sarah for welcoming us and sharing her beautiful property! We even had a little fun with an old-fashioned persimmon seed weather prediction. According to Southern Illinois folklore, the spoon shape inside the seed means we'd better keep those snow shovels handy this winter! ❄️🥄

❤️ THE REAL CORNER OFFICE

Some people dream about the corner office. Mine looks a little different. ❤️

Sometimes it's a laptop, a cup of coffee, travel quotes and itineraries spread around me.

And sometimes...it's working while one of my grandsons sleeps beside me.

When I decided to build MD Destinations, of course I wanted to build a successful business. I wanted to help people see places they've dreamed about, create incredible vacations and, yes, build something that could help fund some of my own adventures too.

But there was another reason that mattered just as much.

I wanted control of my TIME.

I wanted to be able to be there when my mom or dad needed me. I wanted to be available for my kids and my grandsons. I wanted the freedom to go on the field trip, help when someone needed me, or work from wherever life happened to put me that day.

Running your own business sometimes means working early mornings, late nights and weekends. It definitely doesn't mean I work less. 😂

But it DOES mean that sometimes I can work right here.

With a sleeping little boy beside me.

And suddenly this looks an awful lot like the best corner office I could have asked for. ❤️

This is part of my why.

This is success, too. ❤️
