I have some exciting news to share! 🎉 I've officially earned my Accessibility Travel Specialist distinction through Fora!

This one is personal. Before I became a travel advisor, I spent years doing civil rights work and advocating for people with disabilities. Combine that with my love of travel, and this has become one of my favorite parts of the work I do now.

I saw firsthand — traveling with my parents and other seniors — how much inclusion matters when you're on the road. One of my favorite memories is taking my mom to Switzerland in her 80s for her bucket-list trip, and making sure every part of it was accessible and joyful for her.

Here's the thing about accessible travel: it isn't always simple. Hotels don't always show photos or details of their wheelchair-accessible rooms the way they do their other rooms, so it often takes extra digging — calls, emails, follow-up — to get the answers travelers actually need. I'd love to see that change, and I'm proud to be part of a growing community pushing for it.

Being with Fora has been a huge part of that. One year in as a travel advisor — and what a year it's been. This past year I've had the privilege of working with 118 amazing clients and helping plan 50+ trips around the world. From Alaskan cruises to Greek island getaways, London city breaks to Utah road trips, it's been a year of adventure, spontaneity, and unforgettable moments for the people I work with.

The best part is getting gorgeous pictures from clients enjoying their trip!

You may have noticed I have been a bit quiet here recently. I just celebrated my one-year anniversary as an official travel advisor. At the same time, I unexpectedly lost my mom late last month.

For those who follow here and on my website, you know many of my core travel memories include her, and this is a big loss.

There is not a single trip or experience that I regret. If anything, I regret that we didn’t take more. Spending time with loved ones is something you will always treasure – if you have been waiting for a sign that it is time to take that trip, this is it. I say this not as a travel advisor but as a daughter.

This last year I have been incredibly grateful to the clients who have supported me as I started this new business. I’m making less money than I did as a civil rights attorney, but this work gave me the flexibility and free time to spend with my mom. For that I am more grateful than I can possibly say.

Today is a free day for the students (until our farewell canal cruise this evening) so the professors and my colleague and I got to indulge in our own agenda. On today's agenda? The Van Gogh Museum. Well worth the visit - truly amazing collection and story telling.

I had the opportunity to work with our fashion students in Amsterdam yesterday, and it was truly an unforgettable experience. Our morning session featured an enlightening discussion with the leaders of Denim City and its foundation, focusing on the intersection of fashion, sustainability, and creativity. The students then designed and manufactured their own bags. Later, we visited the Anne Frank Museum, which speaks volumes about our ability to organize and coordinate large groups. Reading Anne Frank's Diary in middle school left a lasting impression, and it still resonates today. Many students were introduced to the book and Netherlands' history for the first time and left with a deeper understanding and appreciation. This experience highlighted the importance and influence of international student travel.

Loving European transit options so much! We walked 37 students (43 of us total) from hotel to Gare du Nord this morning. Caught a fabulous high speed train from Paris to Amsterdam - a mere 3.5 hours or so. Then quick tram ride to our new spot in Amsterdam. With such a hot afternoon, it was lovely to cool off in a biergarten with yummy b**r (sour passion fruit anyone??) and truly incredible food. It has also been sheer joy to watch these young adults experience Barcelona, Paris and Amsterdam- learning to confidently navigate new spaces and appreciate other cultures!!!

Feeling slightly Parisienne - ending the day with Sancerre and World Cup (France v Senegal) at an outdoor café. After meeting a student group by the Eiffel Tower this morning, channeled my cousin and grabbed a Doner Kebab for lunch 😋
