🚛 SHARING THE ROAD & DRIVING FUTURE OPPORTUNITIES! 🚛

The Alaska Trucking Association, Alaska Department of Transportation, and trucking industry leaders are at West Anchorage High School today for our Share the Road Alaska program!

We’re connecting with students to discuss the importance of safety around large trucks, understanding blind spots, stopping distances, and how we can all work together to keep Alaska’s roads safe.

We’re also highlighting the incredible career opportunities within Alaska’s trucking and transportation industry — from professional drivers and mechanics to logistics, safety, dispatch, and leadership positions. There is a place for everyone in an industry that keeps Alaska moving!

Day Two of the WTAEC Fall Executive Meeting in Anchorage, Alaska was all about showcasing the infrastructure, transportation partners, and supply chain that keep our state moving! 🚢🚛🏔️

We started with an excellent presentation from the Port of Alaska, learning more about its current infrastructure and the major modernization efforts underway to ensure this critical gateway continues serving Alaska well into the future.

We then had the opportunity to tour TOTE Maritime, and I was especially proud to showcase one of Alaska Trucking Association’s outstanding members and the incredible role they play in our state’s transportation network.

For Alaska, these operations are more than pieces of the supply chain—they are lifelines. The Port of Alaska and TOTE Maritime help connect our communities to the food, supplies, equipment, and essential goods Alaskans rely on every day, with our trucking industry carrying that freight the final miles across our state.

It was a fantastic opportunity to show our WTAEC colleagues firsthand just how unique transportation is in Alaska—and the incredible people and companies who make it all work.

A huge THANK YOU to John Hall’s Alaska for helping make our WTAEC State Executives meeting in Alaska truly unforgettable! 🚌🏔️🍂

John Hall’s generously provided an absolutely beautiful motor coach—and an incredible driver, Tommy—to take our group from Anchorage to Seward for a one-of-a-kind day trip and meeting.

Our visitors had the opportunity to experience Alaska in one of the best ways possible: traveling the Seward Highway surrounded by spectacular fall scenery, mountains, and everything that makes our state so special.

This wasn’t just transportation—it was an experience. John Hall’s stepped in to help us showcase Alaska and gave our guests a day they will remember for years to come.

We are genuinely grateful to John Hall’s Alaska, to Tommy for taking such great care of our group, and for everything John Hall’s does to share our beautiful state with visitors from around the world.

🚧 WHITTIER TUNNEL CLOSURE REMINDER - TOMORROW, OCTOBER 3 🚧

The Whittier Tunnel will be closed to all traffic on Saturday, October 3, from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. for the commissioning of the USS Ted Stevens. Plan ahead and adjust your schedules accordingly. The tunnel is expected to reopen to traffic at 3 p.m.

Please share this information with anyone planning to travel to or from Whittier on October 3 and practice extra safety on the Seward Hwy as freezing temperatures and weekend traffic sets in.

🚛 We’re at the Academies of Anchorage Career Expo TODAY!

The Alaska Trucking Association and United Freight and Transport are representing Alaska’s trucking industry today, connecting with nearly 3,000 students and sharing the incredible career opportunities available in trucking and transportation!

Throughout the day, we’re talking with students about careers as professional drivers, diesel technicians, dispatchers, logistics professionals, safety specialists, operations leaders, and so much more.

Our message today is simple: there’s a place for you in Alaska’s trucking industry. Whether you want to get behind the wheel, turn a wrench, work in logistics, or lead a team, this industry offers opportunities to build a rewarding career right here in Alaska.

We’re excited to spend the day introducing Alaska’s next generation of workers to an industry that keeps our communities and economy moving!

🚛 Connecting Alaska Students with Alaska Careers!

As part of our time with the NAC Tech Rock Star Camp in Nome, the Alaska Trucking Association joined students for a site visit at Crowley Fuels, giving them a firsthand look at the transportation and logistics operations that help keep Nome and surrounding communities moving.

Students learned who Crowley serves, how fuel and essential products make their way to rural Alaska, and the important role transportation plays in everyday life in Nome.

For ATA, opportunities like this are especially important. Building Alaska’s future workforce starts with showing young Alaskans the careers that already exist right here at home. The trucking industry offers far more than driving — with opportunities in mechanics, operations, logistics, safety, equipment, management and many other fields.

A huge thank you to the Crowley Fuels team for welcoming the students, sharing their knowledge and helping us introduce the next generation to the many possibilities within Alaska’s trucking and transportation industry.
