Highmark Marine Group - thanks for taking good care of us while in your yard! Knik Wind came out ready for another season of keeping Alaskan commerce moving!

Some vessels pass through with more history than others.

The Dr. Hank Kaplan was built in 2017 by Diversified Marine in Portland, Oregon — a twin screw tractor tug rated at 5,300 HP, powered by twin Caterpillar 3516 Tier III engines with Cat MTA-24 z-drives. She worked the Pacific Northwest under Harley Marine Services before making her way north to Cook Inlet Tug and Barge in Anchorage. She's since been renamed the Knick Wind and continues working Alaska waters.

We were glad to have her in our yard.

As America marks 250 years, we've kicked off our "American Made" employee photo contest. It celebrates our vessels, crews, and companies that are built, operated, and owned right here in the USA. This image, ice-locked tugs at Cook Inlet, Alaska, took home 1st place in 2024.
