Hawaii has given my family some of our favorite memories, including the trip we just got back from.

I’m donating to Hawaii hurricane relief through the Hawaiʻi Community Foundation and I’ll add $1 more for every comment sharing a Hawaii memory, up to $200 additional dollars.

I’ll also be donating 10% of my earnings on all trips booked with me through the end of the month — 20% for any trip to Hawaii.

We're home from Hawaii - and once again, it delivered. It's one of my favorite family trips to take, and I could do it on repeat forever. There's something about it that never gets old, no matter how many times we go.

Every time I travel, I come home more inspired to travel more. It's an itch I can't scratch...I always want to linger a little longer, dig a little deeper, and bring home something I get to carry with me forever.

Grateful to have weathered Hurricane LaLa in a spot that seemed to be mildly affected compared to most of the Big Island.

We experienced lots of rain and strong winds, but our power never went out and we were also able to sleep most of the night.

Prayers and blessings to those who are still without power and dealing with damage and our first responders, as well as those still in this storm’s path.

Visited some of my favorite spots on the Hilo side of the Big Island yesterday! 🌺🌈

We explored Kaumana Caves, Akaka Falls, Rainbow Falls, and made a stop at What’s Shakin’ for smoothies along the Hamakua Coast.

If you’re staying on the Kona side, this part of the island can feel like a long way to go, but I think it’s absolutely worth making a day of it for the lush green beauty of this side of the island.

💡 Big Island parking tip: Both falls charge for parking and admission. Before pulling into the paid lot, look around for legal parking outside the gate. It’s just a short walk in and can save you a few dollars.

If you’re planning a Big Island trip, don’t skip the Hilo side! 🌴

If you’re at Aulani, you have to get the Mickey-shaped shave ice AND the Mickey Spam musubi.

As my kids said, these are more about the experience than anything else. Both were good, but, neither made our list of the best shave ice or Spam musubi we’ve had in Hawaii.

A few tips if you want to try them:

🍧 Mickey Shave Ice
• Always get it with ice cream AND snow (sweetened condensed milk) on top. Trust me.
• One is BIG enough to split.
• Served from 11 AM–5 PM.

🍙 Mickey Spam Musubi
• They make just ONE batch each day, delivered at 11 AM.
• A line starts forming inside Ulu Cafe about 15 minutes before they arrive. There’s someone there to direct you where to wait.
• There’s no limit to how many you can buy, so they can sell out quickly.
• About 10 minutes before the delivery, there were already around 20 people in line.

If you’re staying at Aulani, they’re definitely fun little experiences to add to your trip!

If you’re traveling with a larger family or want a little more space to spread out, the 2-Bedroom Villas at Aulani is a fantastic option.
