I’ve long railed against they
who choose to view festivals
as an event you show up late to,
to see only the headliners & such,
because they’ve not heard of the artists
lower on the billboard & earlier in the day.

what they fail to realize or choose to dismiss,
is most of these earlier acts
are the headliners of tomorrow
and many still who may never get that lucky,
could be,
as they are brilliant artists & performers.

on a blisteringly scorching day in 2023
at Tortugafest on the beach in South Florida,
I was blessed enough, (due to preparation)
to catch these dudes,
The Red Clay Strays
on the Next From Nashville Stage
early in the afternoon

and they were finally awarded
the ’s Vocal Group of the Year

and much deserved…

Christmas Season Officially begins
when I pass out 💜💜💜

Eight Score & 2 years ago,
this short, but echoing speech
resounded through the hallowed grounds
of Gettysburg where 4 months earlier
saw the deadliest & most decisive battle
in a Civil War between brothers & cousins,
friends & neighbors.

A speech that questioned
whether this Great American Experiment
could withstand or crumble
under the pressure of disagreement.

a question that is relevant still today
as our nation is severely divided
through the efforts of propaganda & half truths
by greedy, immature men with a hunger
for wealth, fame, and power
on the end of strings pulled by other countries
and other already greedy & powerful men,
to the detriment of the people and the world.

it should also be noted that a revolution
is also a civil war,
and necessary at times throughout history
which was once a nation’s future.
