UMass Transit Training Department UMass Transit Services is a student run transit organization, servicing the UMass area. UMTS is always hiring and looking for bus drivers.

UMass Transit Services (UMTS) is a student run organization providing public transportation to the Five College area, based at UMass/Amherst. UMass students are responsible for nearly every aspect of running and maintaining a fully functioning public transportation company. The UMTS Training department is responsible for hiring and training all the people you see on campus driving a UMTS bus. Thos

e drivers are all students here at UMass. They come from all over the country, and learn how to safely operate every bus in our fleet. UMTS operators come from every class, freshman to grad student, and majors as different as Engineering, Theater, Business and International Relations. We have created a home here for our employees. Everyone here is free to be who they are, believe what they choose to believe and feel safe doing so. The minimum requirements for joining us here are a minimum of three semesters remaining as an undergrad student. If you begin to work here as an undergrad, you can stay here during your grad school years if your schedule allows. You must love driving and working with the public. You also need to be willing to take on the responsibilities that come with the job. We ask a lot from our staff, and in return you get well paid, and take on progressively more responsibility (and higher pay!)
There are many paths you can follow as a UMTS employee. Starting as a bus driver, you can branch out into driving field trips, become a trainer, dispatcher or service worker. There are also many opportunities in the public transportation field after you graduate. UMTS is a top provider of qualified skilled management staff to major transportation companies nationwide. Come to our hiring event next Wednesday, 12/8, from 5pm - 7pm at the UMass bus garage. We'll be doing on the spot applications, interviews, and hiring! Come tour our facility, learn more about the world of public transit, and leave as part of the team that moves UMass!

(Want to take the bus? Hop on the Route 35 Mullins Center via Southwest, or Route 34 Mullins Center via Computer Science, and get off at the Lot 25 stop. Cross the intersection and come into the gate towards the garage. Prefer to drive? No problem! Head to 185 Holdsworth Way, Amherst, MA 01003 and park in our bus yard.)
