We had a wonderful time at the APWA New England Chapter Public Works Week Luncheon, celebrating the tireless efforts of public works professionals and their partners, who keep our cities and towns safe.
This week, we recognize the invaluable contributions of these individuals; this year, we were pleased to honor several notable individuals from New England, including Regina Hackett from T2 Center at the University of Connecticut and Bill Riccio, Jr. of Newport, Rhode Island.
Congratulations, and most of all, thank you for everything you do!

It is National Public Works Awareness Week!

Baystate Roads is proud to support public works professionals across Massachusetts through training, technical assistance, and workforce development opportunities that help strengthen local communities.

This year’s National Public Works Week theme, “Rooted in Service, Powered by Community,” highlights the essential work public works agencies do every day to keep transportation systems safe, reliable, and connected.

We are grateful for the dedication of the municipal professionals we work with throughout the Commonwealth and thank them for their continued service to their communities.

Public Works Week is more than a celebration. It is a chance to recognize the people and infrastructure that keep our communities running every single day.

We are proud to share that the New England Chapter of APWA recently received a proclamation from the City of Newport officially recognizing Public Works Week. This kind of acknowledgment matters. It highlights the essential role public works professionals play in everything from clean water and safe roads to emergency response and community resilience.

Proclamations like this help raise awareness, build public appreciation, and reinforce the value of continued investment in infrastructure and the people behind it.

Thank you to the City of Newport for recognizing the impact of public works and to all the professionals who keep our communities strong.
