Today, we pause to remember the tragic events of September 11, 2001, a day that forever altered our world. While the focus is often on the iconic images of the Twin Towers, let us also remember the extraordinary maritime evacuations that took place that day.

In the midst of chaos, countless heroes emerged from the maritime community. From the waterways surrounding Manhattan, a vast armada of boats, ferries, and vessels of all sizes came together for an urgent mission – to rescue and evacuate those stranded in Lower Manhattan.

With courage and compassion, these mariners and volunteers ferried thousands of people to safety. They showed that even in the darkest moments, the maritime spirit of unity, selflessness, and unwavering determination shines through.

As we remember the lives lost and the resilience of a nation, let us also honor the maritime heroes who responded in a time of need, reminding us that in the face of adversity, the maritime community stands strong and united.

Today, we mourn, reflect, and pay tribute to all those affected by the events of 9/11, and we remember the maritime evacuations as a testament to the strength of the human spirit in the face of tragedy.

As typical with hurricanes, they like to shift and keep us on our toes. The latest advisory from NOAA shows a more northern landfall.

While this (for now) shows favorably to the Central Florida region, due to the hurricane's impact, there might be some delays in parts shipping. We appreciate your understanding as we navigate these temporary challenges.

Tracking Hurricane Idalia...

MyFWC Florida Fish and Wildlife has a great video on how to prep your vessel for hurricanes. If you haven't yet secured your boats, these are great tips ahead of the storm!

As always, prioritize the safety and well-being of you and your family (pets included!) and always follow evacuation orders if given. The boat can be replaced, you can't.

Tracking Hurricane Idalia...

Predicted timing of impact to Florida is Wednesday August 30th in the morning hours. Most of the state is currently in a Tropical Storm Warning notice.
Please make sure all of your emergency plans are in place!

Secure It: Find a safe harbor or haul out if possible. If not, double-up dock lines and add fenders.

Remove Gear: Clear your boat of anything that could become a projectile – sails, cushions, and loose equipment.

Shut Tight: Seal all openings – hatches, windows, and doors. Use duct tape if needed.

Reduce Windage: Remove canvas, Bimini tops, and any loose items that could catch the wind.

Charge Up: Ensure batteries are fully charged for bilge pumps and emergency equipment.

Documents Safe: Store important boat documents in a waterproof bag.

Stay Informed: Keep an eye on weather updates and follow local authorities' instructions.
