It's with more than a bit of sadness I would like to let all our friend know that due to the coronavirus we have decided we will not be putting the boat in the water this year. In these uncertain times we feel it is best to err on the side of caution. We will all get through this and come out stronger for it.

Thank you to everyone who has fished with us in the past and everyone who will in the future. We will be back in 2021 better than ever...until then tight lines!

Great news for our fishery!

BIG INCREASE IN SALMON STOCKING ANNOUNCED

Great news! The Wisconsin DNR listened to sport anglers who advocated for a significant boost in salmon and steelhead stocking numbers for 2020 and beyond. More browns going in, and they're looking at putting at least some brook trout in again, too!

In 2017, the Great Lakes Fish Tag and Recovery program collected tissue samples from salmon and trout to determine how these fish are adjusting to forage base changes in Lake Michigan.
Results show that all species eat alewife, but suggest competition for this declining prey fish is highest among Chinook salmon and coho salmon, while lake trout, brown trout, and steelhead are diversifying their diet by eating more round gobies, bloaters, yellow perch, and/or insects (see graph).

An early January thaw is underway, jeopardizing the thin ice covering some of spots on the Ahnapee River and Silver Creek. Tyler Yunk landed this dandy brown trout here last weekend. Area inland lakes have also been offering some cautious walk-on action for panfish (all lakes) and small stocked trout (Krohn's). If not familiar with the ice conditions, consider hiring a guide or wait for a stretch of cold air to lock things in.
