England Airpark and AEX representatives on Tuesday had the opportunity to share industry trends and workforce needs with a select group of high school and middle school educators from nine Central Louisiana parishes. The airport and England Airpark Fire Department were two stops in the weeklong Workplace Experience Exchange (WEE) Camps, administered by The Orchard Foundation as part of The Rapides Foundation's Education Initiative.
“The goal of WEE Camp is to help educators develop a broader, real-world perspective they can pass on to their students,” explained Dr. Marjorie Taylor, Executive Director of The Orchard Foundation. “Teachers call WEE Camp an ‘eye-opening experience’ that informs them about the skills their students will need to work in various area businesses. We appreciate local partners like the England Economic and Industrial Development District who, through WEE Camp and other activities, are helping students succeed beyond high school.”
