🚨Everything You Need to Know About Biking to the Albuquerque Balloon Fiesta📢🚲
Thinking about biking to the Balloon Fiesta? It can be one of the easiest and most enjoyable ways to get there while avoiding a lot of the traffic and parking hassle.
What time should I leave?
A good target is to start riding around 6:00–6:30 AM if you want to arrive before the morning Mass Ascension.
Give yourself a little extra time if you’re unfamiliar with the route, riding with kids, or planning to stop for coffee along the way.
Where should I park and start my ride?
It depends on which part of Albuquerque you’re coming from, but these are three solid starting points:
1. Tin Can Alley — a good option if you’re coming from the north or east side.
2. Vista del Norte Park — a convenient starting point south of Balloon Fiesta Park.
3. Alameda Open Space — a great option if you’re coming from the west side.
These locations put you at a comfortable riding distance without having to fight your way directly into Balloon Fiesta traffic.
How long is the ride?
From these general areas, expect roughly:
1-3.5 miles10-20 minutes
Your exact ride time will depend on your starting point, pace, and trail traffic.
Is there a safe place to leave my bike?
Yes — one of the best parts about biking to the Fiesta is the free bike valet.
Volunteers check your bike in, give you a claim ticket, and store it inside a large secured area while you enjoy the event.
It’s simple, convenient, and saves you from worrying about finding a place to lock up.
Can I rent a bike?
Yes. Kickstand Cycles has a limited number of bikes and e-bikes available for rental during Balloon Fiesta.
If you’re visiting Albuquerque or simply want an easier ride to the event, renting an e-bike can be a great option.
Why bike to the Balloon Fiesta?
You can avoid much of the parking congestion, enjoy Albuquerque’s trail system, get some fresh air, and arrive at the Fiesta in a way that feels like part of the experience rather than just the commute.
For a lot of riders, the bike ride ends up being one of the highlights of the morning.

Anyone know a cyclist that has this internal dialogue every time they self service their bike? 🤣

When you find a ebike photo shoot from last fall 🍁
Just think… this could be you. 🍂🚲
The sun is just starting to come up. The air is cool, fresh, and quiet. You hop on your e-bike and suddenly the miles feel effortless.
You’re cruising farther than you normally would, still getting your heart rate up, still moving your body, but actually enjoying every second of it.
Golden morning light. Crisp fall air. Empty trails. A sunrise that makes you stop for a second just to take it all in.
And when the ride is over?
You pull up to your favorite coffee spot, order that first pumpkin coffee of the season, grab an incredible brunch, and sit there thinking…
“Why don’t I do this more often?”
More miles. More mornings. More memories.
Sometimes the best days start with two wheels and nowhere you have to be. ☕️🍁🚲
