MTM President Taylor Santiago and VP of Operations Ryan Penix attended the amazing RoRo Rodeo earlier this month, giving MTM leadership the opportunity to see newly hired longshore workers as they were trained on how to safely operate construction equipment. The Port of Baltimore is the only port in the nation to host an event like this, so we are so grateful to Joe Marecki of the Maryland Port Administration for inviting us! And we are so glad to see this event return to the port.

We are fond of saying at MTM that "We move more than mail." Here's a story that speaks volumes about that sentiment.

MTM operations assistant Amanda Dobrochowski was excited at being on the road in December as part of Wreaths Across America, but she had no idea how much the 4-day, 3,967-mile trip would change her perceptions of truck driving.

"It felt surreal to be part of something so meaningful, where every mile driven served a greater purpose," says Amanda, who along with MTM driver Tania Wong-Mills delivered 4,800 wreaths to cemeteries of U.S. veterans. "I could feel the weight of the responsibility, knowing that these wreaths were headed to cemeteries where families would be coming to pay their respects. It made every challenge — every crowded parking lot, every delayed stop — worth it.

"The magnitude of the mission reminded me that trucking isn’t just about transporting goods: It is about contributing to something far bigger and connects people and places for causes that matter."

You still have two more days to drop off a toy at our Aberdeen office! As a Toys for Tots dropoff location, we are proud to be contributing to the happiness of children who receive toys through this awesome program.

If you have something extra or are out shopping and see a cute toy that is calling for a child, please stop in at 1007 Old Philadelphia Road, Suite 500 sometime before EOB on Wednesday, Dec. 18. We would love to see you!

Today is . Will you join us in participating by supporting the Wreaths Across America campaign?

MTM is partnering with Wreaths Across America for their Truckload of Remembrance campaign. When you purchase a $17 wreath, $5 will go directly to supporting the TCA Scholarship Fund. On Dec. 14, at noon, the Truckload Carriers Association will be helping to remember and honor our veterans by laying veteran’s wreaths on the graves of our country's military members.

Holiday shopping this weekend? Among all those great Small Business Saturday and Cyber Monday deals there are some great toys, right? Consider picking something up to donate to Toys for Tots as you are perusing those deals! MTM is again this year a drop-off site for the Marine Corp Reserve annual donation drive, which has donated 677 million toys to 301 million deserving children. You can drop off your toys at our Aberdeen office anytime before Dec. 18, or ship them directly to us with "Toys for Tots" noted on the package.

Do you have someone you know and love who has Alzheimer's Disease? At MTM we want to show support for the 6.2 million Americans living with the disease, as well as for those people who love and support them. What's better when fall weather sets in than a hot cup of soup? How about a whole soup smorgasbord? Our first MTM companywide "Soup Off" had our whole team saying "sip, sip horray!"

Enough with the frivolity: You want to know the winner, right? OK, OK. Bearing a big pot of Maryland Cream of Crab soup, Tommy "dispatched" the winner (see what we did there), and the rest of us put the pedal to the metal to get our share. Tommy previously was a chef, so he DID have a bit of an edge, but the soup was AMAZING!

As with so many of you, a lot of us at MTM are intimately aware of breast cancer's ruthlessness. This year, we designed this hat in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Our team is sporting these hats in support, and we've made them available for others to do the same.
