We believe that very soon highways will reconnect Kharkiv and Simferopol, Lviv and Donetsk. Overpasses, bridges and approaches to overpasses will be in harmony with the architecture of our cities. Of course, in order to rebuild the transport infrastructure quickly, economical, ecological and reliable engineering solutions will be required. That is why we would like to return to reinforced earth structures for bridge foundations and overpass approaches, which are an integral part of any highways project. Such structures, made of modular cement concrete blocks and stiff geogrids, are an extension of high architecture, blending perfectly into the landscape and never breaking away from the overall architectural design. Although we are all used to traditional reinforced concrete structures, but the possibilities of reinforced soil structures are not limited: from decorative retaining walls to complex traffic junctions.
Since the beginning of the Russian military aggression against Ukraine, another bridge has been constructed and opened of the M-12.
In wartime conditions, such reinforced earth structures are important, as it has been demonstrated that rigid geogrids, together with well compacted fill material, form a composite capable of absorbing blast wave energy without causing destruction and cracking of the structure.
