India has successfully completed the first locally assembled Airbus C295 at Tata Advanced Systems final assembly line in Vadodara, marking a major step in the country’s efforts to expand domestic aircraft manufacturing capabilities.
The aircraft is being produced in partnership with Airbus under India’s military transport aircraft modernization program.
Under the $2.5 billion agreement, India will receive a total of 56 C-295 aircraft. The first 16 aircraft were delivered fully built from Spain, while the remaining 40 are being manufactured and assembled in India by Tata Advanced Systems.
The C-295 is a twin-engine military transport aircraft designed for carrying troops, cargo, medical evacuation missions and other tactical operations.
The rollout marks a major step in expanding India’s local aerospace manufacturing capabilities through international industrial partnership.
