Travel that transforms 🌍

When we started Tanzania Safari Bug, we didn’t want to be just another safari company. We wanted to build something that treats Tanzania with the respect it deserves.

That’s why you won’t find single-use plastic bottles in our vehicles. Every guest receives a reusable bottle instead: a small change, but one that helps keep our footprint here as light as possible 👣

As a locally owned team, we make decisions with Tanzania in mind. We work with responsible lodges, use reusable safari hampers where possible, and plant a tree for every safari booked.

Our guides and office team are all locally employed, because conservation only works when the people of this land are part of it.

Tanzania has given us everything. This is our way of giving something back 💙

A safari is never just about where you go. It’s about who you go with.

In the bush, a great guide shapes everything: what you see, when you see it, and how the story unfolds.

🇹🇿 Michael, founder of Tanzania Safari Bug, trained at the Mweka College of African Wildlife Management and has spent over a decade working across Tanzania’s major wildlife zones, from the open plains of the Serengeti to the river systems of the Rufiji in southern Tanzania.

Every TSB guide completes a full year in the field alongside senior guides, learning how wildlife moves, reacts, and reveals itself in real time.

What guests remember most isn’t the facts - it’s being in the right place at the right moment, guided by someone who truly understands the bush.

L&R, a lovely couple from France, had never been to Tanzania before, and were looking for something a little out of the ordinary for their honeymoon 🇹🇿

The plan: a journey through some of northern Tanzania’s most iconic landscapes, and a few slower days by the ocean to finish.

Their route looked like this: Manyara —> Ndutu Region —> Central Serengeti —> Ngorongoro Crater —> Stone Town —> Zanzibar’s East Coast 🌴

💬 “We really couldn’t have asked for a better honeymoon. Sandra and Michael planned our trip perfectly, with the right balance of safari, culture and the relaxation we needed after planning a wedding.

Our guide Gismas made the safari. Full of knowledge, brilliant at reading what was happening around us and always one step ahead on where to go next.

❤️ Thank you, Tanzania Safari Bug. We’ll never forget our honeymoon.”

Journeys like this are why we love planning safaris!

The perfect day trip for guests visiting Zanzibar ⛵️

Sailing on a traditional dhow, with local dates and banana crisps for the journey, you’ll head towards Pungume Island to start the day with a snorkel 🤿

🐬 If you’re lucky, you may even spot dolphins along the way.

Then it’s up to you whether to anchor by the island, or continue out to the sandbank.

While you enjoy a swim in the clear water, one of our crew heads ashore to fire up the beach BBQ.

💬 A honeymoon couple who experienced this in January told us:

“We still talk about that lunch. Fresh guacamole mixed on deck, lobster and prawns sizzling on the BBQ, and a tomato curry on the side, eaten right there on the dhow. One of the best meals of our whole trip!”

Zanzibar has many beautiful experiences, but days like this are often the ones guests remember long after they return home.

🇹🇿 If you’re thinking about adding Zanzibar to your Tanzania safari, our team is always happy to share ideas - find out more at [email protected].

January safaris are one of Tanzania’s best-kept secrets...

January looks nothing like August in Tanzania, and that’s exactly why we love it 💙

There’s no single “best” season to visit our beautiful country. Every time of year has something unique to offer.

In January, the calving season is just beginning on the southern Serengeti plains, when thousands of wildebeest calves are born. It’s a time of new life - filled with incredible predator activity as lions, cheetahs and hyenas follow the herds.

The landscapes are also lush and green after the short rains, and in places like the Ngorongoro Crater you can sometimes feel as if you have parts of it almost to yourself.

🇹🇿 We plan safaris all year because we live here all year. Every month reveals a different side of Tanzania!

The green season has a quiet magic that travellers never expect...

Farm House Valley, Ngorongoro Highlands ⛰️

If you’re driving towards Kilimanjaro, Farm House Valley by is one of those places where you can truly unwind before heading home.

Take a swim in the outdoor pool, enjoy a spa treatment if you feel like it and settle in for dinner made with ingredients grown just a few steps from your table - harvested fresh that same morning.

If you arrive with enough daylight (or plan an extra day), you can join the guided walk through their farm and coffee plantation.

It’s a good reset after dusty safari days and it’s fascinating seeing how an organic farm operates up here in the Ngorongoro Highlands.

Our guests always find the sundowner a particular highlight.

A local G&T in hand, bonfire crackling and the wide valley stretching out in front of you as the sun drops 🌅

Looking for a safari that feels quieter and far removed from the crowds? 🇹🇿

While much of Tanzania’s travel focuses on the northern circuit, the south offers something very different...
..vast, open landscapes, fewer vehicles and a sense of space that’s increasingly rare.

🦛 From the river systems of Nyerere to the baobab-studded plains of Ruaha, Southern Tanzania delivers a safari experience that feels personal, unfiltered and wonderfully wild.

🇹🇿 A day with the Maasai (make sure to swipe to the end)

Some of the most meaningful safari moments don’t happen in the vehicle. They happen when you slow down and spend time with the people who call this land home.

A day like this might include:

📿 Sharing stories while learning how to craft traditional Maasai jewellery

🍃 Heading out on a guided nature walk with a Maasai guide, discovering medicinal plants and ancient knowledge of the land

🏡 Visiting a nearby boma to gain a deeper understanding of Maasai traditions and daily life, and even try your luck at spear throwing

🔥 Ending the day with traditional dancing, laughter and stories shared around the fire, passed down through generations

These experiences are never rushed and always approached with deep respect. This is the Tanzania we love sharing with our travellers.
