🐭Mickey Tree Worth it!

At this difficult time of COVID-19 for all of us, it is necessary at least to have some cute photos to see online everyday 🦮

Have you tried finding Mickey Mouse in the Park? There is a well-loved tree in the Wanping Park (or Nanxing Park) in Taichung. Due to its resemblance to Mickey, the tree is often called as “Mickey Tree”.

On top of it, there are also facilities such as playground and eco-pond in the Park, making the visit a memorable one. If you want to have a fairytale style photo, perhaps the Mickey Tree can be a nice choice!

Dragon Boat Festival Worth It!!

Today is the dragon boat festival in Taiwan, a time that people eat rice dumplings and race dragon boat 🛶

Kaoshung’s Love River is famous for hosting dragon boat races, but this year with the pandemic outbreak in Taiwan, it is a time for us to all stay at home and enjoy the delicious traditional cousin - rice dumplings.
The good news is, the cases seem to be going down! Let’s stay strong together and get through this💪🏻

🔥Flame Tree Worth It!!
📍Kaohsiung, Taiwan

Shout out to the graduates! Happy graduation! Well done! 👏🏻

Taiwanese often link flame trees with graduations as June is also the season of graduation. So if you ever seen students taking photo under a tree with passionate blossom, that will be it!📚

Flame trees blossom during May and June in Taiwan, with the fiery red flower covering the crown of the tree, no wonder they’re often connected to the icon of early summer!☀️

As to the location itself, it used to be a ketchup factory back in Japan-colonial time(1895-1945). After the factory closed down, the flame tree however, keeping on colouring the rubbles. Now the tree is over one-hundred-year old, over three-floors tall, and has become a famous tourist spot.🌺

🏞Rift Valley Worth it!
📍Yuli Township, Taiwan

East Rift Valley is a beautiful place spanning across Hualien and Taitung County with vast mountain landscapes and delicious local produce.🌾

Riding along the bikeway is a great way to take in the land that is eastern Taiwan’s largest rice granary, much of the crop grown here bound for export to Japan. During the seasons of the year the views are markedly different, ranging from seas of golden rice ears to fields of bright-yellow rapeseed.🍚

Besides the magnificent sceneries, there are also many activities to do, from tours of flower fields or natural farms, to cultural festivities and baths at hot springs, all the exciting activities await you to experience.🌻

Just slow down and enjoy the charming Rift Valley and get yourself mesmerized by the leisurely pace in eastern Taiwan!🚲

🌉Bridge Worth it!
📍Yunlin County, Taiwan

As the drought hasn’t been completely solved yet, we got to witness some views like never before.
Xiluo Bridge, across the lower reaches of the Zhuoshui River, was once a hub for transportation in Taiwan's western corridor. In the old days, in addition to being a highway, it also carried tracks for Taiwan Sugar's narrow-gauge railway.🏗

At 1,939 meters in length it was one of the longest bridges in the world when it was finished—second only to the Golden Gate Bridge at that time—and became such a source of national pride that it appeared on Taiwanese bank notes and stamps in the 1960s.🥈

Make sure to have a good look next time you drive over it!🚗

🚀Mars Craters Worth it!
📍Tainan, Taiwan

The deserted salt flats in Chigu, Tainan, have reappeared due to the recent drought.💦

Due to the reason that it is an abandoned fishing ground, and the Wu Guo fish in it had dug many round holes for spawning, plus the red soil here is with a lot of minerals, algae oxidation and high salinity environment, this "surface of Mars" landscape is thus formed.🌑

The eye-catching salt field can be found behind Dingshan elementary school. Make sure not to walk into the middle of the salt lake otherwise your shoes will be filled up with salt!🥾

Come on a trip to Chigu and enjoy the most special scenery here!👽

🐊Crocodile Island Worth it!
📍New Taipei City, Taiwan

There are numerous beautiful, natural landscapes in New Taipei City. Crocodile Island, one of the many from the city, is a must-see attraction in Shiding district.💙

Shiding Crocodile Island is at the foot of the Feitsui Reservoir and Bishan Village site, which lies in the middle of the Beishi River. Due to the construction of the Feitsui Reservoir, Bishan Village was completely submerged under the reservoir.🏕

The peak of the river bank was surrounded by water, exposing the water surface. The landscape resembles a crocodile floating on the lake, while a distant mountain looms behind. The two aspects combined have thus made a magnificent landscape.🏞

Shiding’s mountains embrace their neighboring lakes, creating peaceful and dreamy scenery. Come check it out! 🔭

🌊Green Reefs Worth it!
📍New Taipei City, Taiwan

Selected as one of the eight wonders of Taiwan by the CNN, Laomei’s attractive green reefs in New Taipei city draw photographers to capture their mesmerizing beauty every year from February to May.💚

Laomei Green Reefs derive from volcanic matters of Datun Mountains. After a long time of sea erosions, their soft parts are gone, leaving the hard compounds that look like ditches. 🌋

As waves hit the reef surfaces under northeast monsoons, green algae such as sea lettuce and “green hair” slowly grow, which results the amazing seasonal scene.🌊

P.s. Make sure not to step on them! They’re extremely fragile and slippery! 👣

✈️Outlying Island Worth it!
📍Little Liuqiu, Taiwan

For its unique geological formations, Little Liuqiu has a diverse natural ecology, beautiful coastal views, and grotesque rocks along with many historical buildings.🌊

The history of Little Liuqiu can be traced back to 1775, which is during Qing Dynasty, when Mr. Lee Yue reached the island from today's Kaohsiung Port to take shelter from the storms.
He found the place inhabitable for its copious catch of fish and nice weather. And for being separated from the motherland Taiwan, this island to him was just like a ball drifting on the sea, from which Liuqiu (drifting ball) was named. ⚓️

It takes only 40 minutes to circle around the island by scooters, and there are no traffic lights at all on this leisurely fishery village island. Since it is not influenced by northeastern monsoons in winter, visitors can come all year round. Pace of life is slow and free. No big budget is needed to enjoy the diverse ecology, authentic culture, and LOHAS life.🤿

Last but not least, if you enjoy free diving /scuba diving, there have always been more than a hundred sea turtles spotted!🐢

✈️Outlying Islands Worth it!
📍Orchid Island, Taiwan

Orchid Island (Lanyu) is a volcanic island formed of magma erupting from the ocean floor. The humid, rainy climate has cloaked the mountainous interior of the island with a thick rain-forest cover, and has provided it with a countless variety of plant and animal life. 🌿

Coral reefs are distributed around the island and the warm Japan Current also flows by, attracting vast schools of fish that make this a paradise for deep-sea fishing and skin diving.🤿

The Yami (Tao) people have always depended primarily on the sea for their livelihood, a fact which is reflected in their unique culture. The men, for example, wear narrow loincloths for convenience when fishing or hunting. They use richly decorated canoes in the photo and they perform elaborate ceremonies when launching a new boat or begin the annual flying fish season.🐟

If you ever want to get away from work, try out this intensely interesting and cultural outlying island!🌋
