Chiayi Park is like a time capsule, it includes many historical objects since 200 years ago. Last time, we brought our guests from Hsinchu to Chiayi Park and showed them the things occurred in the past.

There are a lot of stories that can be told, so everyone can enjoy a chilling time by different activities.

嘉義公園就像是一個時空膠囊，裡面保存著許多具有歷史價值的物件，最早應該可以追溯到200年前了！上一次，我們帶著由 Sofa Story, 旅行講堂的創辦者展展，與他在 竹松社區大學的學員們到了嘉義公園，透過導覽解說讓大家瞭解嘉義過去發生過的那些事。

正因為嘉義公園為大家保存了許多與嘉義有關的歷史痕跡，所以有很多故事可以訴說，大家也可以在這裡進行許多活動，度過一個輕鬆寫意的時光。

Perception of Chiayi was invited by the department of tourism industry of Hua-Nan Commercial Vocational High School, to the school to instruct students in bilingual guided tour skills. Our teammate, Eva, as the lecturer of the class, also graduated from Hua-Nan. On this occasion, she returns to her alma mater to share her experiences of being a bilingual tour guide.

《發現嘉義》在4月的時候受到 華南高商 觀光事業科 的邀請，到校園為二年級的學生進行7堂雙語導覽技巧實務的課程。而我們的E編正是從華南高商畢業的校友，時隔多年後，以講師的身份回到學校，向學弟妹們分享她進入觀光業的心路歷程，以及擔任雙語導遊時該做哪些準備工作。

Ultimately, the students completed a perfect final performance at Chaiyi Cultural and Creative Industries Park and Chiayi Art Museum last Friday. To make the final performance smoothly, our teammate Angela also came to the sites for advising students when they rehearsed.

在上週五，這群學生終於將課堂所學的內容，在 #嘉義文創園區 與 #嘉義美術館 做了完美的成果展示。為了讓整個導覽過程更順暢，前一天大家特地到現場模擬演練，並由《發現嘉義》的另一個夥伴Angela到場給大家指導。

Eva told the students, she felt how much time they spent on practices; they showed histories and features of the places superbly. Furthermore, they also invented interactive games for the audience as Perception of Chiayi always does for the tour designing, to increase the audience’s engagement.

從每個學生的表現，可以看見他們在課堂之後做了無數次的練習，才能將具有歷史意義的嘉義文創園區與嘉義美術館特色展現給觀眾。而他們也汲取了《發現嘉義》在規劃導覽遊程的特色，一樣地發想了互動遊戲，讓觀眾更有參與感。

We are happy that we had the opportunity to cooperate with the school; to guide the youths to know the beauty of their hometown further and one day they can share their hometown with more people. We also hope that the practical classes helped students building their confidence in speaking in front of the public.

《發現嘉義》也很開心能夠與華商觀光科合作，帶領嘉義的孩子們熟悉自己的家鄉特色，並且分享給更多人；也期許透過這樣的實務課程，建立學生面對群眾說話的自信。

🏚Discovering the stories of the old houses in Chiayi City
📖一起來嘉義市挖掘老屋的的故事吧！

Chiayi City’s nickname is “The Capital of Woods ” from the lumber industry that was flourishing 50 years ago. Nowadays, there are about 6,000 old wooden houses preserved in Chiayi City, and the oldest ones can date as far back as the early nationalist government time, the Japonese era or even the Qing dynasty.

To let more people know about the old houses’ story,《Perception of Chiayi》is a walking tour that will lead visitors through the streets downtown with the help of a bilingual tour guide, to find its past and present!

《Taiwan Review》 is under the Ministry of Foreign Affairs which is a multi-language publication that aims to enhance the internationals getting to know more about the developments of Taiwan’s politics, economy, technology, culture, and society. Last year, our team was interviewed and it was mentioned in the article.

《臺灣評論》是一本隸屬外交部，為了增進國際社會瞭解台灣政治、經濟、科技、文化及社會等各面向之發展情形，針對全球不同語區讀者發行多語版的雜誌。去年《發現嘉義》團隊接受雜誌的訪問，採訪內容也被刊登在2020年11-12月的雜誌文章裡。

The Old Chaiyi Prison ( also named Chaiyi Prison Museum) was built in 1922 and managed by the Japanese government. The area is 2.38 hectares with good maintenance; besides, the Japanese style dormitories which out of the wall also carry the memories from 118 households.

上個星期日，你有看到 #日環蝕嗎？

Did you see the annular solar last Sunday?

這一天，由E編代表《發現嘉義》帶領5位嘉義大學的印尼學生去看日環蝕。這不僅是嘉義難得一見的景象之外，也讓是一個非常好的機會對嘉義有更進一步的認識。

Our teammate, Eva, was the tour guide that brought 5 Indonesian students of National Chiayi University to see the eclipse. It was not only a special scene taking place in Chiayi but also a good chance to know Chiayi further.

我們的第一站是 #故宮南院，除了向大夥介紹它的背景之外，E編還特地挑了幾個在園區內的公共藝術裝置作為今天導覽的重點。當你在故宮南院的時候， #你是否也曾注意過這些作品呢？

Firstly, we went to the Southern Branch of National Palace Museum. Except for introducing the Southern Branch, Eva also shared the backgrounds of some public art installations with our guests. Have you ever noticed them when you visit there?

結束午餐後，我們先抵達 #布袋543故事館，讓大家能夠再多了解布袋當地的歷史後，才前往 #高跟鞋教堂 觀賞日環蝕。E編也趁大家在等待日環蝕的時候，向每個人介紹高跟鞋教堂背後的故事，大家對於曾經發生在布袋的這些事，聽得十分津津有味呢！

Next, we visited Story House after lunch to understand more history about Budai, then we finally arrived at the High-Heel Wedding Church watching the eclipse. Eva took a few minutes to tell them a story behind the giant building, and everyone felt amazed hearing these stories of Budai.

親愛的朋友，好久不見，最近好嗎？

Dear friends, it’s a long time since I saw you last, how are you?

前陣子，因為新冠肺炎的關係，所以《發現嘉義》的夥伴們非常認真地執行社交距離。終於，台灣在一群防疫英雄的帶領下，大夥終於可以放心地在國內旅行了！而這個星期日(21日)，百年難得一見的「日環蝕」將在南臺灣發生，而且主場就在嘉義呢！

In the first half of 2020, we 《Perception of Chiayi》kept the social distance seriously from each other due to COVID-19. Because Taiwan has numerous heroes standing at the frontline to protect our health, thus everyone is allowed to travel domestically since the COVID-19 restrictions lifted on 7th June. This Sunday (21st), the annular solar eclipse will take place in southern Taiwan, and Chiayi City and Chiayi County are the main locations to enjoy the once-in-a-lifetime occurrence in Taiwan.

日環蝕，又被稱作「上帝的金戒指」，當月亮通過太陽與地球之間，太陽被月亮遮住的範圍外會形成一道光圈，就像天空中的一枚戒指。正因此景象非常特別，所以嘉義有許多地方都會同時舉辦系列活動，讓大家「有得看也有得玩」唷！

The annular solar eclipse also called “ the God’s golden ring “ because its shape looks like a ring in the sky while the Moon revolves in between the Sun and the Earth, it will blocks out most of the sun; only a circle of the light can be observed. To celebrate the special scene, there are many series of activities that will be taken place in different places.

如果你還沒決定這個周末的行程，何不到嘉義來個週末小旅行呢？因為下次要在台灣看見日環蝕可要再等195年以後了！

When visiting an exhibition in the art museum, we usually appreciate the artists’ creations and explore the meanings of the artworks. However, are you curious about whether they themselves collected artworks from other artists as well? Except for the left masterpieces, perhaps those collections are the parts of precious and unforgettable memories of them.

當我們到美術館參觀展覽，往往是欣賞藝術家們的創作，並探究作品背後想要表達的意涵。你是否好奇，這些藝術家是否也喜歡「收藏」其他藝術家的作品呢？除了留下的作品外，那些收藏或許是某些珍視且深刻的記憶。

Chiayi Municipal Museum of Fine Arts cooperates with National Museum of History, is displaying Chen Cheng-po’s collection for the exhibition’s core of 《From Lines To Network - Chen Cheng-po and His Collection of Painting and Calligraphy》, which used Chen’s lines deduction as the opening, to bring out the concept of “social niceties.“

#嘉義市立美術館 這一次與 #國立歷史博物館 合作，以陳澄波的線條演繹為序曲，帶入「交陪」的概念，策劃了以陳澄波收藏作為核心的【線條到網絡~陳澄波與他的書畫收藏】展。

The exhibition starts with “calligraphy lines” to display three contexts of modern art’s development: Taiwan, China, and Japan. Chen’s collection shows us the interactions between him and his calligraphy painters’ who were spread over the three regions. Consequently, the more we explore the value of Taiwan art history and modern art movements through Chen Cheng-po’s collection, the more we learn is that how artists transmitted Northeast Asia’s culture to each other, as well as wove it into a new network.

展覽從「線條」出發，以筆墨精神梳理近現代臺灣美術發展的三條脈絡---台灣、中國、日本。以陳澄波家中所藏的書畫，呈現他與三地的書畫家的互動。我們更可以從展覽中探究陳澄波對台灣美術史的意義價值及近現代的美術運動中， #東北亞 的文化如何在這些藝術家間相互傳遞，並且交織而成一個新的網絡。

【How Do We Learn A Place's Story By Artworks?】
#如何從藝術作品中了解一個地方的故事?

Although COVID-19 makes the society tense, we finished Chen Cheng-po Art Masterpiece Guide Training Course. Chen Li-po, the chairman of Chen Cheng-po Cultural Foundation, spoke at the opening: " I am touched seeing so many people come here during the epidemic situation. And I appreciate your participation very much as I realize so many people are willing to attend the paid course." Because the foundation continues promoting arts education to more people; to introduce Chen Cheng-po’s talent and his dedication in the art field, as well as hope everyone can access arts easily in life.

雖然目前新冠肺炎的疫情讓整個社會氛圍變得很緊張，不過我們所舉辦的【發現，山城藝象 - 陳澄波畫作導覽的必修課】終於順利結束了。在開場的時候， 陳澄波文化基金會 Chen Cheng-po Cultural Foundation董事長陳立栢說：「看到這麼多人冒著生命危險來這裡上課，我很感動；當我知道大家是付費參加這次的課程，我又更感動了！」畢竟基金會近年來致力於推廣藝術教育，就是希望持續讓更多人看見陳澄波大師在藝術領域的才華與奉獻之外，更希望藝術可以真正走入台灣人民的生活裡。

located in Chiayi is rich in forest resources. It advanced forest industrial development and developed Chiayi’s unique local cultures. Chen and the other lecturer, Elisa Ho, led everyone to observe the details of the artworks understanding the history at the time. Also, they both guided us thinking about what kind of emotions reflect from those paintings by Chen Cheng-po and other painters during the same time.

位於嘉義的阿里山因為擁有豐富的林木資源，促進了過去的林木產業發展，也塑造了嘉義特有的在地文化。陳董事長與何冠儀講師帶領大家從觀察畫作裡面的細節，了解當時的歷史脈絡，也引導大家思考陳澄波與同時期畫家們，想要用畫筆反映出他們對台灣這塊土地懷抱著哪些情感。

Many participants expressed that this course made them not only know Chen Cheng-po further but love Chiayi more! After Elisa described the scene that pupils sit happily in front of Rembrandt van Rijn's painting - 《The Night Watch》, there was a lady who said she is looking forward to seeing the same picture: the audiences sit around the art masterpiece, appreciating and discussing it with each other carefreely and delightfully.

許多學員表示，上完課後更進一步認識陳澄波，同時也讓自己對嘉義的情感更深刻了！有一位同學聽完冠儀分享 #林布蘭 的《 #夜巡》故事之後，期許著未來大家能夠在藝術作品前席地而坐，自在、暢快地討論與欣賞藝術。

Except for showing the ways of appreciating arts, also we want everyone to know the skills of being a guide in the arts field; therefore we invited the president of World Alishan Heritage Promotion Alliance, Guo Ying-Liang and the super guide who is called “ Chiayi’s walking dictionary”, Chen Chingshow, to demonstrate how to use Chen’s paintings to introduce Chen Cheng-po Outdoor Art Museum, Chiayi Sawmill, and Chiayi Park’s histories.

除了學習「藝術欣賞」，我們也希望能夠讓大家學習「解說的技巧」。因此我們也特別邀請 #阿里山世界文化遺產協會 的郭盈良理事長，以及被稱為「嘉義活字典」的 #超級導覽員 陳青秀老師，為大家介紹 #望向山林戶外美術館、 #嘉義製材所 與 #嘉義公園，示範如何透過陳澄波的畫作去介紹這些地方過去的歷史故事。
