Today, on World Turtle Day, we celebrate one of the oldest living creatures on Earth — from our freshwater terrapins to the magnificent sea turtles that return to Trinidad and Tobago’s shores year after year.
Trinidad and Tobago is home to FIVE species of sea turtles: Leatherback, Hawksbill, Green, Loggerhead and Olive Ridley turtles. Three species regularly nest on our beaches, making our islands one of the Caribbean’s most important turtle conservation spaces.
At 3 Circles Energy, our sea turtle conservation experiences are about far more than sightings.
We focus on:
• small, respectful groups
• conservation-first guiding
• safety and education
• collaboration with local communities and turtle guides
• protecting nesting beaches through responsible behaviour
Our guests leave with more than photos. They leave understanding why these animals matter to our ecosystems, our heritage, and our future.
Every turtle that survives today is surviving against enormous odds — habitat loss, plastic pollution, coastal lighting, illegal harvesting, climate change, and marine debris.
We can all help:
• Never leave garbage on beaches
• Reduce single-use plastics
• Avoid driving and lighting fires on nesting beaches
• Use red lights at night near turtle nesting sites
• Support ethical turtle tours
• Respect wildlife space and local conservation rules
• Teach younger generations why turtles matter
Conservation is not somebody else’s responsibility. It belongs to all of us.
This World Turtle Day, let us protect the oceans, beaches, rivers and wetlands that turtles — and ultimately humans — depend on.
We are building legacy, not just likes.
