The family really began sinking their teeth into the meat business when the ever-aspiring Rupert became co-founder of Macfoods Limited. During this time, Erin Farm was one of the major producers of pork in Trinidad and Tobago, supplying approximately 75% of the local supermarkets and restaurants with high quality product and family-oriented service. A 1990’s glut created by a surplus of pork spurred the family’s decision to enter into the meat processing industry. This, in 1992, marked the birth of Erin Meat Packers Limited, the subsidiary of Erin Farm Limited that would handle the processing and the marketing of the Erin Farm Brand. As manufactures of over thirty-five uniquely-flavored meat products (pork, beef, turkey and chicken), Erin Meat Packers Limited is responsible for ensuring superior quality meat output. This unwavering commitment to excellence has established the Erin Farm brand as a “prime cut” in a highly competitive meat market. The intended introduction of new products can only enhance the company’s position. Six years after inception, in 1998, Erin Meat Packers extended its vision and portfolio and began exporting product to other Caribbean islands. Today, almost one decade later, St Lucia, Grenada, Guyana, Antigua and Suriname enjoy the high quality of this brand. Plans to export to other Caribbean islands in the near future will ensure an even wider spread of satisfied Erin Farm customers.
