Proman’s announcement of job cuts due to ongoing gas supply constraints is a stark reminder of the energy sector’s continued decline. As Point Lisas contracts, national revenue and jobs take a direct hit, highlighting our urgent need for true economic diversification.

We cannot rely solely on depleting fossil fuel resources.The La Brea Shipyard Project offers an immediate, high-value solution. By establishing a world-class dry-docking and ship repair hub in South Trinidad, we can build a sustainable pillar within the Blue Economy to:

+ Generate Foreign Exchange: Tap into busy global shipping routes in the Gulf of Paria.

+ Create Technical Jobs: Absorb skilled industrial and engineering talent into a long-term industry.

+ Stimulate Local Supply Chains: Boost local manufacturing, marine services, and community growth. The infrastructure and skilled workforce are ready.

We need immediate, coordinated action to get the La Brea Shipyard built and operational. TTSRMC stands ready to collaborate with government and private sector partners to make this project a reality.
