Association of Caribbean States (ACS-AEC) The ACS is a regional body of 35 Contracting States, Countries and Territories of the Greater Caribbean to enhance cooperation within the region

The ACS is an inter-governmental organisation of the countries of the Greater Caribbean devoted to cooperation, consultation and concerted action in trade, transport, sustainable tourism and disaster risk reduction.

ACS Secretary-General H.E. Noemí Espinoza Madrid received H.E. Jon Dean, British High Commissioner to Trinidad and Tobago, on the presentation of his Letters of Credence.

Their discussion focused on opportunities to deepen cooperation in support of sustainable development and climate action, priorities that are central to advancing the ACS Strategic Plan 2035 and building a more sustainable Greater Caribbean.

By strengthening dialogue with observer states, the ACS continues to build the partnerships needed to translate regional priorities into concrete action and create new opportunities for the peoples of our region.

“La integración no se puede dar solo entre gobiernos. Necesita la voz, la experiencia y el liderazgo de sus pueblos”.

Con este llamado, S.E. Noemí Espinoza, Secretaria General de la Asociación de Estados del Caribe, reafirmó en la ceremonia de instalación de la Asamblea de la Confederación de Pueblos del Caribe Occidental, que el futuro del Gran Caribe debe construirse mediante la cooperación entre los Estados, pero también reconociendo a sus pueblos como protagonistas de la integración regional.

En una región conectada por un mismo mar, avanzar juntos no significa renunciar a nuestras identidades. Significa convertir nuestra diversidad en una fuerza para construir un Gran Caribe más integrado, sostenible y centrado en el bienestar de sus pueblos.

La instalación de esta Asamblea abre un nuevo espacio para que las voces, experiencias y prioridades de los pueblos del Caribe Occidental contribuyan a la construcción de una agenda regional más cercana a las realidades de sus comunidades. Desde la AEC seguiremos promoviendo el diálogo entre gobiernos, pueblos, academia, juventudes y sociedad civil para construir soluciones comunes.

The Association of Caribbean States joins Barbados and the wider sporting community in honouring Sir Garfield Sobers, widely regarded as the greatest all-rounder in the history of cricket. We extend our deepest condolences to his family and to the people of Barbados.

May his example continue to inspire future generations to pursue excellence with humility, celebrate our cultural richness, and recognise sport as a powerful force that uplifts humanity and unites the peoples of the Greater Caribbean.

ACS and Guyana Advance a Stronger Partnership

ACS Secretary-General H.E. Noemí Espinoza, met with Ms. Vonetta Victor, Consul General (Ag) of the Co-operative Republic of Guyana in Trinidad and Tobago.

Their exchange focused on strengthening relations between Guyana and the ACS through more active participation in the Association’s work and regional initiatives.

H.E. Espinoza also conveyed her heartfelt condolences to the Government and people of Guyana, particularly the families affected by the recent ferry tragedy and the loss of lives.

Guyana reaffirmed its commitment to the ACS and its objectives. Greater participation by Member States strengthens the Association’s capacity to advance cooperation and concerted action for the well-being of the Greater Caribbean.

Our Ready to Grow Virtual Internship gives students real work on real regional projects, fully remote, and fully trilingual (English, Spanish, French). Cohort 1 helped shape cooperation across the Caribbean without ever needing to relocate. Now it's Cohort 2's turn.

📌 Applying? Be sure to include your thematic area of interest in your cover letter, whether that's disaster risk reduction, sustainable tourism, trade, transport, resource mobilization, or geopolitical research.

The Greater Caribbean has been shaped by centuries of movement, cultural exchange and human connection.

Its peoples have carried languages, music, food, knowledge, traditions and relationships from one shore to another, creating a region whose diversity is the result of connection—not separation.

Greater Caribbean Day provides an annual opportunity to recognise this shared yet plural identity, encourage public participation and strengthen the relationships needed to shape the region’s future.

This 24 July, let us celebrate the people, stories and connections that continue to create the Greater Caribbean.

The Greater Caribbean is more than a geographic space.

It is a region shaped by centuries of movement, exchange, cultural interaction and shared experience. Its island and continental countries and territories are connected by the Caribbean Sea, but also by languages, music, food, traditions, histories and relationships that have travelled across borders.

Greater Caribbean Day creates an annual opportunity for the peoples of the region to recognise that shared identity, celebrate the diversity that defines it and strengthen the solidarity needed to address common opportunities and challenges.

Observed on 24 July, the Day draws on a date of regional significance while looking beyond institutions to celebrate the people who have continuously shaped the Greater Caribbean.
