Posting this sad map of the southern Caribbean which shows the connections by sea. Apart from domestic ferries (Trinidad to Grenada. St.Vincent to the Grenadines and Grenada to Carriacou) there are None between the island nations of St.Lucia, Barbados, St.Vincent, Grenada and Trinidad.
Well we at Windward Ferries are working very hard to remedy the situation which has prevailed since year 2000. So here is a schedule which should be easily understood. We now have to postpone the start up. We are aiming at sometime in March with the help of our partners.

27/11/2023

To all who are waiting for a Ferry Service to connect:
St.Lucia, Barbados, St.Vincent, Grenada, Trinidad.
We at Windward Ferries have made representation to many regional possible investors. Hoping that they would make a relatively small investment in this Ferry Project. Their investment plus Windward Ferry’s capital would have made it possible to finance the project through a financial institution.
The governments of the nations mentioned above have, during the last year repeatedly called for a Ferry Service stating that it is “urgently needed”.
Surprisingly few potential investors have shown interest in the Ferry Project, even as a ferry service would benefit investors, regional businesses and the travelling public as well as increase economic activity in all the island nations, none more than the others.
We at Windward Ferries are continuing the work.
We have partnered with a regional conglomerate to carry the project forward.
Further updates will be posted here.
We thank every one who have shown interest and support, it has further emphasized the need for this Service.

Windward Ferries and partners are working on the finance for this project.

Take a look at the map of the disconnected Southern Caribbean.
Diversification is dependent on many things, Communication and Transportation are among the most important. Take a look at countries that have become economic powerhouses. They developed an efficient transport system first, success followed. In the Southern Caribbean there is no ferry system connecting Trinidad-Grenada-St. Vincent-Barbados-St. Lucia. For the region to prosper, Communication and Transport must be established first. Then trade and regional travel and tourism will follow. Fast and efficient delivery of cargo in the region, resulting in increased manufacturing, increased agriculture production. Increased activity in the entire region. It is well known that regional tourism is just as important as extra regional tourism, if not more important, resulting in increased commerce, more guests in hotels and guest houses, taxies, restaurants etc, all will benefit. The governments must be aware of this. Yet all we hear is talk, and an approach to the governments regarding a Ferry Service has received zero interest. WE AT WINDWARD FERRIES Lrd ARE WORKING TO ESTABLISH A CONVENTIONAL PASSENGER AND RORO CARGO FERRY making a northbound and southbound roundtrip every week to these island nations. This will certainly aid the Diversification effort!

31/07/2023

We, at WINDWARD FERRIES Ltd are ready to provide a weekly Ferry Service for Passengers and RoRo Cargo between Trinidad, Grenada, St. Vincent, Barbados and St. Lucia. We invite the Governments, Development Banks, Private Business and Regional Citizens to be part of this very important venture which will improve and stimulate the economic activity in each country.
CARICOM stated July 6, 2023: “We believe that this is a fundamental part of the integration architecture, and at 50, we could not leave Trinidad and Tobago and not speak about the core of the regional integration movement, that is, people’s ability to move freely within the Caribbean Community. I think we would have served and we have served the Community well at this meeting by arriving at that decision and we hope to see that it is implemented by the 30th of March 2024.” – Chair of CARICOM, the Hon. Roosevelt Skerrit, Prime Minister of Dominica
“Any discussion of expanded intra-regional trade cannot be complete without including improving transportation options. Now is the time for these commitments to be put into action with support and financial backing for effective solutions. The OECS has firmly committed to filling the void of improved maritime transportation. EU and UK governments are committed to supporting OECS governments. It is up to all these governments to come together and to follow through on these statements. The goal of any supplier or transportation service needs to show that their service will comply with the stated goals of the OECS.
The future must be the guiding force, not the past. Anyone can easily see that to base current decision making on past performance will never allow the ferry services, or any other maritime transportation service, to be addressed with the importance that they deserve. Failure of the service to be implemented cannot be seen as a failure of the service or service provider when they are putting in place services to which the OECS has already made plain that they want to become a reality. Every government support available needs to be enlisted to make this happen” – Barry Ginn.
“In that context, anyone can see a high quality and reliable ferry service throughout the eastern Caribbean as an important building block towards improving economic conditions and unity. The fact that it has been in place in Guadeloupe via L’Express des îles, interconnecting to Dominica, Martinique and Saint Lucia for many years is solid proof that it can work and bring benefits to people. Such a service also contributes to building stronger resilience. It is the only way forward”. – Barry Ginn.
