The Compass Point: Overall Review 🧭

The setting itself is undeniably beautiful. The beach and sea are the clear highlights, paired beautifully with a fantastic beach bar that sets the tone for relaxes days and evenings by the water.

While the views look the part, the finer details fall short for a 4* plus rating. The sun loungers are in definite need of an upgrade, and the main buffet felt far too chaotic to deliver a truly refined stay.

There was nothing inherently "wrong" with the stay, but there was also nothing that made it feel special or outstanding. A quick trip out to nearby Didim for shopping was a highlight.

Would we stay here again? No. We would absolutely return to the Bodrum area but we'll be checking into a different resort next time.

The Compass Point: The Resident Wildlife at Aquasis Deluxe Resort & Spa

You won't just be sharing the grounds with fellow holiday makers - you'll also meet plenty of four legged residents.

The hotel grounds are home to a notable population of Resort cats. There's a real mix around the gardens and pathways. Some are friendly, curious and love a bit of fuss, while others prefer to keep their distance. Their condition varies quite a bit too, with some carrying the visible wear and tear of outdoor life.

The real surprise, however, was a sweet hedgehog happily tucking into a bowl of food left out for the animals.

The Compass Point: Aquasis Deluxe Resort & Spa – Dining & Drinks

Our multi-part review of Aquasis Deluxe Resort & Spa continues; today, our attention turns to the food and drink offerings.

Unfortunately, the main buffet restaurant fell well short of expectations. Service was chaotic, dishes were frequently lukewarm, and vegetarian options were surprisingly limited—even the vast array of pasta dishes almost exclusively contained meat.

For lunch, your best bet is to bypass the main dining room entirely and head to the poolside snack bar or the beach bar. The à la carte Italian is also a solid alternative with noticeably better quality, though you should prepare for a wait as not all tables are kept open.

Without a doubt, the culinary highlight of the resort was the à la carte Asian restaurant (Sakura). Offering exceptional food paired with sweeping elevated views across the resort and sea, it proved to be the standout dining experience of the stay.

On the drinks front, expect mixed results. While standard local options are included, top-shelf spirits (such as Jack Daniel’s) incur an extra charge—an frustrating detail for a resort operating at a 4-star plus level.

As our review of the Aquasis Deluxe Resort & Spa continues, we turn our focus from the daytime action to our absolute favorite way to unwind as the day ends: the resort’s Beach Bar.

Positioned right on the Aegean shoreline, this relaxed wooden pavilion offers front-row seats to spectacular sunset views over the water. Warm lighting, comfortable seating, and a gentle sea breeze create an effortlessly calm setting away from the main resort grounds.

Whether you're stopping by for a quiet evening drink or simply taking in the twilight atmosphere, it stands out as the ultimate spot for a peaceful end to the day.

The Compass Point: Aquasis Deluxe Resort & Spa – Pools & Aqua Park

Our multi-part review of the Aquasis Deluxe Resort & Spa in Didim continues; our attention turns to the heart of the property: the extensive pool and water slide complex.

The resort's pool is exceptionally grand, anchored by a vast, lake-style central lagoon complete with footbridges and palm-tree islets. By day, the spacious deck offers ample seating and cabana options (at extra cost); by night, the illuminated pools transform the central grounds into a tranquil, visual highlight of the resort.

For families and thrill-seekers, the dedicated aqua park adds a completely dynamic layer to the stay. Featuring an impressive array of multi-lane racers, high-speed tube slides, and closed-loop bowls, the complex provides genuine variety without feeling crowded or chaotic.

The resort has also cleverly separated the energy levels—balancing high-octane slide towers with a thoughtfully designed, character-themed splash zone for younger children, ensuring a seamless experience regardless of age.

Whether navigating the waters by day or taking in the evening ambiance, the water features stand out as one of the defining highlights of the property.

The Compass Point: Aquasis Deluxe Resort & Spa – Room & Arrival

Following on from our departure board post, we begin our multi-part review of the Aquasis Deluxe Resort & Spa in Didim, starting with the arrival experience and room layout.

The transfer from the airport was slightly longer than expected due to local traffic—taking closer to two hours rather than the scheduled 1.5 hours. Upon arrival, we were allocated a standard room directly above the main lobby, facing the front of the property.

While categorised as the most basic room option, the space itself was exceptionally generous. The room was very large and paired with a comfortably proportioned bathroom. A daily restocked mini-bar was provided (soft drinks only), and despite being above the lobby entrance, the elevated position still offered a lovely ocean view. It serves as a great reminder that even a standard room tier can offer surprising comfort and perspective.

Travel Update: Essential news for Tui long-haul economy passengers.

Important policy changes for TUI economy passengers starting 1st November. The airline is removing its complimentary onboard bar service. Passengers will still be entitled to one complimentary b**r or w**e with their main meal service, but all other alcoholic beverages throughout the flight will transition to a buy-on-board model.
