KLEOPATRA HAMAMI TARİHİ - HİSTORY OF CLEOPATRA BATH
Göcekte bulunan bu tarihi yapı, Antik bir Roma hamamıdır. Rivayete göre Mısır kraliçesi Kleopatra Akdeniz seyahati sırasında bu koyu keşfetmiş ve bu koyda yüzdüğünde cildinin güzelleştiğini fark etmiş ve buraya hamam yapılmasını istemiştir. Eskiden hamamlar sadece hamam olarak değil kültür ve etkinlik alanları olarak da kullanılırdı. Yapının yan tarafında koyun içine doğru 2 tane daha yıkılmış harabeye rastlanmaktadır ve ayrıca koyun üst kısımlarına doğru eskiden yerleşim alanı olan bir köy olduğu bilinmektedir. Günümüzde yarısı su altında olan bu yapı eskiden su üstünde olduğu ve yaşanılan depremlerle birlikte ve suların yükselmesiyle yarısı sular altında kalmış bulunmaktadır.
This historical building in Göcek is an ancient Roman bath. According to the rumor, Egyptian queen Cleopatra discovered this bay during her Mediterranean trip and when she swam in this bay, she noticed that her skin became beautiful and she wanted a bathhouse to be built here. In the past, baths were used not only as baths but also as cultural and event areas. On the side of the building, towards the inside of the bay, there are 2 more collapsed ruins, and it is known that there was a village that was a settlement area in the past towards the upper parts of the bay. Today, this structure, half of which is under water, was previously above water and half of it was flooded with the earthquakes and the rise of the waters.
