At Ege Port Kuşadası, safety and precision are our top priorities. Behind every successful docking of the world’s most magnificent cruise ships stands the expertise of our Maritime Pilots. As we celebrate Pilotage Week, we are proud to introduce the dedicated team that guides our port with unwavering professionalism.
Meet Our Captains
Our pilotage team consists of three distinguished graduates from the Istanbul Technical University (ITU) Maritime Faculty, a premier institution in maritime education. Each of our pilots joined the Ege Port Kuşadası family after approximately 15 years of extensive experience as Oceangoing Masters on international waters.
Captain Güray: A 1987 ITU graduate and the veteran of our team, Captain Güray has been an integral part of the Ege Port family for 23 years, bringing decades of local knowledge to our operations.
Captain Erol: A 1999 ITU graduate, Captain Erol joined us 2.5 years ago, combining his deep-sea command experience with elite pilotage skills.
Captain Emre: Our 2006 ITU graduate, Captain Emre, has been serving Ege Port for 1.5 years, contributing modern maritime expertise to our team’s dynamic strength.
THE ESSENCE OF MARITIME PILOTAGE
Maritime Pilotage is a high-level technical discipline where years of high-seas command meet specialized local expertise. Even for the most seasoned Oceangoing Masters with decades of experience, transitioning to pilotage requires a rigorous localized internship. This involves performing numerous maneuvers under the supervision of senior pilots to master the specific currents, bathymetry, and weather patterns of our harbor.
From maneuvering massive vessels safely into the docks under all weather conditions to coordinating communication between tugboats and port services, our pilots are the technical guardians of our waters. They ensure that every ship reaches its berth with absolute precision, protecting lives and the marine ecosystem.
