These two distinctive Homalomena have been long time cultivated in our greenhouses, and the current consensus of them turn out they are new species! Both came from Northern Sumatra where lately becomes a hotspot for unusual Homalomena.
It is amazing to know that most species occur in this region are lithophyts, moulding on rock crevices among the splash-zones of waterfalls, even though, surprisingly the leaves are not overly wet. These are natural creations, designing these remarkable leaf textures to facilitate the water flow out of the leaves by forming straps, channels, etc, guilding water away from the leaf surface rapidly. This adaptation promotes these plants to survive in such persistently wet conditions
And this evolution has caught plant enthusiasts' eyes for decorative purpose, would you like to add some to your collection?
