Si Phang Nga Bird Day 🐦🌿 | “I came as a beginner… and left with a life list!”
I didn’t plan to be a “bird photographer” on this trip…
but Si Phang Nga had other plans 😄
Deep forest, soft light, and that quiet “wait… what was that sound?” moment again and again.
Every step felt like a new surprise—until the birds started showing up one by one.
📸 Birds I captured today:
✅ White-rumped Shama
Small, confident, and classy—dark body with that warm orange belly and long tail.
It posed on the rock like it owned the forest (which it probably does).
✅ Orange-headed Thrush
That rich orange head + calm forest vibe… this one looks like it walked out of a wildlife postcard.
✅ Brown-winged Kingfisher
Red bill, chocolate-brown wings, and a clean white chest—serious “river boss” energy.
(When it sits still, it’s like a statue… until it’s gone in one second.)
✅ Chestnut-breasted Malkoha
Red eye, long tail, sneaky movement through the branches—this bird is basically a jungle ninja.
✅ Brown Wood Owl (likely) 🦉
Big eyes, silent presence, and that “I see everything” stare.
This was the moment I forgot to breathe for a second.
…and the one that got away…
❌ Great Hornbill
I HEARD it—before I saw it.
That legendary WHOOSH-WHOOSH sound of giant wings cutting through the air… goosebumps!
But I was a second too late with the camera.
No photo… only the memory (and yes, I’m still mildly heartbroken 😂).
Si Phang Nga is the kind of place that makes you slow down, listen harder, and look deeper.
Today wasn’t just a walk in the forest🌳✨
If you love wildlife, birding, and real jungle atmosphere…
put Si Phang Nga on your list.
Which one is your favorite Shama, Thrush, Kingfisher, Malkoha, or Owl? 👇
