Wat Sirindhorn Wararam Phu Phrao (commonly called Wat Phu Prao) is a beautiful Buddhist temple located on a hill near the border of Thailand and Laos in Ubon Ratchathani Province. The temple is famous for its peaceful atmosphere and stunning views of the Mekong River and surrounding mountains.

The highlight of the temple is the main chapel, which has a unique glowing “Tree of Life” mural on the back wall. This artwork is painted with special luminous paint that absorbs sunlight during the day and glows in the dark at night, creating a magical and spiritual scene.

Wat Sirindhorn Wararam Phu Phrao is also a popular place to watch the sunset and enjoy panoramic views of nature. Many visitors come in the evening to see the glowing tree and experience the quiet, spiritual atmosphere of the temple.

Wat Rong Khun, also known as the White Temple, is a famous contemporary Buddhist temple located in Chiang Rai, northern Thailand. It was designed and built by Thai national artist Chalermchai Kositpipat, who began the project in 1997.

The temple is completely white, symbolizing the purity of the Buddha, and is decorated with pieces of mirror glass that sparkle in the sunlight, representing wisdom and enlightenment. One of the most striking features is the bridge of rebirth, which visitors must cross before entering the main building. Beneath the bridge are sculpted hands reaching upward, symbolizing human desire, greed, and suffering.

Inside the temple, the murals are very unique and modern. They combine traditional Buddhist teachings with contemporary images such as world events, technology, and popular culture, reminding visitors that worldly temptations can lead people away from enlightenment.

Wat Rong Khun is not only a place of worship but also a powerful work of art. It reflects the artist’s vision of Buddhism, morality, and the struggle between good and evil, making it one of the most iconic and thought-provoking landmarks in Thailand.

✨ i’ve lost it, my composed! 😆 Looked at me, the excitement of attending my first ever Yi Peng Festival. Totally overwhelmed and mind blowing event to witness & experienced such a beautiful event. The atmosphere was incredible and the crowds were amazing as well. Was honored to attend my first Yi Peng Lantern Festival with my client & it won’t be the last; come with me to the next one? 😄
The festival, also known as Yee Peng, is an annual event that takes place on the full moon night of the 2nd month of the Thai Lanna Calendar. The exact date varies each year and the 2026 event will be held on 24 & 25 November.
