After we have talked a lot about attractions in Luxor, so we will move to the next destination in Egypt which is Awan, ever been Egypt’s gateway to Africa.
It is a relaxed town that you can exploring the temples, monuments, and the other tourist attractions in the southern upper Egypt. Here some lists of attraction in Aswan!

First is Abu Simbel which is a must see in Aswan. Built in the reign of Ramses II and it was the most elegant of his monuments. Fortunately, the entire building saved from flooding in 1960s by an international UNESCO team. They evacuate the entire temple from the original location and lifted piece by piece to the current site.

Abu Simbel is 280 kilometers from Aswan, sitting on the banks of Lake Nasser. The four enormous statues of Ramses II (20 meters height) in front of the main temple are picturesque. Carved around their feet are his children, queen Nefertiti and his mother. The main temple dedicated to the sun gods Amon-re consists of the consecutive halls which depict painting of the Kadesh Battle.

Move to the north of main temple, there is a small temple which is the temple of Hathor located on a rocky promontory and separated from the main temple by sand valley. This temple dedicated to the god of love and Nefertari (Ramesses’s wife) which was a second time in ancient Egyptian history.
The wall of this temple are depict the images of Ramesses and Nefertari making offerings to the gods and to depictions of the goddess Hathor.

The modern town of Luxor is the famous city Thebes or Waset in ancient Egypt. It was a capital of Egypt from the twelfth dynasty (1991 BC.) and reached its peak in the New Kingdom.

Even The mud-brick houses and palaces have disappeared but the most fascinating rock temple have survived which is Luxor Temple.
It is located close to the Nile laid out parallel to the riverbank and known as “The southern harem of Amun” The temple was first built in the reign of Amenhotep III (1390-52 BC.) on the site of an earlier sandstone temple but completed by Tutankhamun (1336-27 BC.) and Horemheb (1323-1295 BC.)

This temple is interesting because it was reconstructed with different art design, be it Christian and Islamic art. During Christian era, the hypostyle hall was converted into a Christian church. Then for thousands of years, the temple was buried underground. Eventually the mosque of Sufi Shaykh Yusuf Abu al-Hajjaj was built over it.
If you visit this temple you will see the evolution of arts in one place.

Luxor museum of Egyptian art has a well-chosen and brilliantly displayed and explained collection of antiquities dating from the end of the Old Kingdom to the Mamluk period, mostly gathered from the Theban temples and necropolis.

The entrance ticket was quite expensive but worth it. This is the one of the most valuable sights in Luxor. Unless the enchanting antiques, the location of museum was picturesque which located on the eastern bank of the Nile. Its construction was established by the Ministry of Culture of Egypt and was completed in 1975.

The collection of the museum and high quality of its presentation allows visitor to travel back in time. It displayed several of masterpieces. For example, before entering the Main hall, visitors are welcomed by the life-size statue of King Tutankhamun Which found in the temple of Karnak which was discovered in 1903 by the French archaeologist Georges Albert Legrain.

Second is the statue of Thumose III who become famous from the 15 military campaigns to Asia and managed to expand the country’s borders in the south of Egypt. The statue was Graywacke with 0.90 meters high. It was found in 1965 at the destroyed temple on the west bank.

The last example is one of the highlights in the museum that was the two royal mummies which are Ahmose I and the mummy some believe to be Ramses I, excitingly displayed without their wrappings in dark room. This is only a few examples of more than hundred artifacts. Come to visit here, you will not regret it.

The south side from the main temple next to Temple of Ramses II, there was a Sacred Lake. It is known as Lake of the Salt Pan because the water is the water of the lake is slightly saline. Then lead to The Temple of Khonsu dedicated to the Theban moon god which is the example of unique architecture of the New Kingdom. It was built by Ramses III, but the reliefs, apart from those in the innermost chambers were completed during the reign of Ramses of IV, XII and the priest king Herihor, who also built the forecourt.
The central gateway lead to the forecourt which flanked on the right and left by a double row of papyrus columns. This temple is plenty of old reliefs that you should miss especially the reliefs in the dark chamber on the east side of the Sanctuary which show Ramses IV and (to the right and left of the entrance) the Emperor Augustus in the presence of the Theban gods.
Next to the southwest from The Temple of Khonsu is The Temple of Osiris and Opet (The goddess of childbirth and the mother of Osiris) which built by Euergetes II. It stands on a three-meter-high base topped with the main entrance on the west side then lead to the rectangle hall that have the reliefs depict the king in the presence of various deities. Off this hall, it has two side chambers that depict the dead of Osiris and the birth of Horus.
The door with the figure of Opet lead to the Sanctuary with a niche that originally held the statue of goddess. We will end the Karnak complex here and continue to the next place, guess where ?!
