Phi Phi Weather
Phi Phi Island weather is the main actor of a memorable holiday in this gem of a tropical paradise in which most of the daily life of inhabitants and visitors alike is spent outdoors. Phi Phi is only 40 km from Phuket and it has a very similar climate, with average temperatures around 75°F to 89°F (24°C to 32°C) year round.
The best time to visit Phi Phi and enjoy the best weather is from November to March, when humidity is lowest and temperatures average 28°C, with cool breezes keeping things comfortable. Phi Phi weather is slightly less agreeable in September and October, when the monsoon brings thick clouds charged with heavy rains, yet it is still possible to enjoy the place between downpours.
Hot Season on Phi Phi Island
The hottest time is April - May, with temperatures ranging from 80º F to 95º F (27 ºC up to 36º C). There are frequent short heavy thundery showers, offering welcome relief from the temperature and humidity.
The Thai New Year (Songkran) occurs on April 13th and everyone sprinkles (or throws) cool water on each other.
Locals enjoy June, July and August, since the weather is usually fine and favourite haunts remain uncrowded. The usual pattern is brief but heavy showers, with plenty of sunshine between downpours. Everything is a little less expensive at this time of year, as well. Temperatures range between 70º F and 90º F (20º C to 33º C).
Wet Season in Phi Phi Island
During September and early October there are frequent heavy downpours. Beaches, outdoor restaurants and streets are relatively uncluttered by visitors. And even at this time, there are long intervals of sunshine between the heavy showers.
Anyway, plenty of low season activities, both water- and land-based, still offer themselves in Phi Phi during this wettest part of the summer season.
