Mission Aviation Fellowship - South Sudan Mission Aviation Fellowship (MAF) is a Christian organisation that provides aviation services MAF is also part of a dynamic worldwide partnership.

Mission Aviation Fellowship (MAF) is a Christian organisation that provides aviation services for people living in remote areas around the world. For over 60 years, MAF aircraft have been serving isolated and underprivileged men, women and children, by providing a regular flight and freight service bringing the essentials of life into these communities as well as medical care, emergency food, and

Christian hope. Today worldwide, the partnership operates 142 aircraft from bases in over 30 countries. Our purpose is to deliver practical and spiritual care to people in places of deepest human need. Every three minutes, an MAF plane takes off or lands somewhere in the world. These flights enable crucial work by many aid and development agencies, missions, local churches and other national groups. MAF is serving the Church and communities in remote areas where flying is not a luxury, but a lifeline.

Today, we flew a medevac flight for a young man who was shot in the chest and leg during a road ambush in Western Equatoria. ๐Ÿ˜ข

๐Ÿ™ Join us as we pray for his treatment and recovery. Insecurity on the roads is one of the reasons MAF is flying in South Sudan.

๐ŸŽ‰ Congratulations to the Episcopal church of South Sudan ECSS in Yambio, who today, are celebrating the centenary of Yambio Cathedral!

One-hundred years since the church was commissioned, senior churchmen including the Primate Archbishop Justin Badi Arama and former Archbishop Daniel Deng Bul Yak flew with MAF on Monday to attend the celebrations and give thanks to God.

โ€˜The Primate and Bishops have been frequent fliers with MAF over the years. It was a pleasure to fly them to mark such an important occasion,โ€™ remarks pilot Ide.

โ€˜The event seems very timely and is certainly worthy of celebration,โ€™ pilot Jono agrees, adding, โ€˜Itโ€™s good to highlight the churches unity during a difficult time by coming together as Christians.โ€™

Last week, our colleague Lavina joined a team of nine quality, safety and security (QSS) personnel from across MAF programmes for a week-long training for new QSS managers.

The training held at Kajjansi Airport in Uganda brought together staff from Mission Aviation Fellowship - Uganda MAF-Kenya MAF Liberia MAF Madagascar and MAF Tanzania.

Lavina, pictured here with Ruth de Wit, head of safety for MAF Kenya, found the training both informative and helpful. โ€˜It was good to meet face to face with colleagues doing QSS roles in other programmes and learn about MAFโ€™s new quality tracking system Insight. I look forward to working with everyone going forward, and playing my part in ensuring our flight operations in South Sudan are safe and efficient,โ€™ she said.

Mark Simmonds, MAFIโ€™s International Safety Manager said that โ€œWe are equipping our new quality, safety and security managers in programmes with skills in investigation and also giving them an introduction to air quality safety and security management system.โ€
