On 31th Friday July 2026,
- together with the Ministry of Wildlife Conservation and Tourism - celebrated the graduation of 46 newly trained Wildlife Rangers in Lantoto National Park.

The ceremony marked the completion of a comprehensive Law Enforcement Training Programme, appropriate use of force, and anti-poaching fundamentals. This rigorous training reflects our shared commitment to supporting a professional, accountable wildlife force equipped to safeguard Lantoto critically important wildlife populations. National leaders, state officials, conservation partners and community representatives gathered at Freedom Square as the graduates showcased their readiness to protect the South Sudan’s broader natural heritage.
Remarks by the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Wildlife Conservation and Tourism.
Hon.Maj.Gen: Peter Loro Albert reaffirmed the government’s determination to combat poaching and strengthen conservation efforts.

Today marks a historic and proud turning point for our nation's conservation journey. For the very first time, we proudly witness the graduation of dedicated rangers specifically trained and deployed for Lantoto National Park, reinforcing our unwavering commitment to safeguarding South Sudan’s ecological treasures.

Defending Our Natural Heritage:
These newly graduated rangers stand as our formidable front line of defense. They bear the vital responsibility of shielding our rich biodiversity, aggressively combating illegal poaching, and protecting our critical natural habitats from mounting environmental pressures.

Building a Sustainable Future:
This achievement is much more than just a graduation; it is a profound investment in our future. Armed with modern training and unyielding courage, these men and women embody the dedication required to ensure that our protected areas thrive.
Protecting wildlife today ensures that future generations can experience the beauty of nature tomorrow.

الحياة البرية ثروة طبيعية وفرصة للنمو الاقتصادي...!
تُعد الحياة البرية في بلادنا واحدة من أعظم الثروات الطبيعية التي تمتلكها البلاد، إذ تضم مساحات شاسعة من الغابات والسهول والمستنقعات التي تؤوي آلاف الأنواع من الحيوانات والطيور وتُصنف هجرة الحيوانات البرية في جنوب السودان ضمن أكبر الهجرات الطبيعية في العالم، مما يجعل البلاد وجهة واعدة للسياحة البيئية والاستثمار في مجال الحفاظ على التنوع الحيوي.
وتحتضن البلاد محميات وطنية مهمة مثل متنزه بوما الوطني، و منطقة بَوما–بَادِنقِيلو الذي ادرج مؤخرا ضمن قائمة التراث العالمي لمنظمة الأمم المتحدة للتربية والعلم والثقافة (اليونسكو)، لتصبح أول موقع في البلاد يحظى بهذا الاعتراف الدولي ، ومتنزه نيمولي الوطني، التي تضم أعدادًا كبيرة من الغزلان، والزرافات، والفيلة، والأسود، والجاموس، والنعام، إلى جانب مئات الأنواع من الطيور النادرة ، وتمثل هذه الثروة الطبيعية إرثًا بيئيًا لا يقدر بثمن، يمكن أن يكون ركيزة أساسية لتحقيق التنمية المستدامة.

إنجاز تاريخي اليونسكو تدرج المشهد الطبيعي بين بوما–بادينغيلو كأول موقع تراث عالمي في جنوب السودان
سجّلت جمهورية جنوب السودان إنجازًا تاريخيًا غير مسبوق، بعد اعتماد منظمة الأمم المتحدة للتربية والعلم والثقافة «اليونسكو» إدراج المشهد الطبيعي للهجرة بين بوما–بادينغيلو على قائمة التراث العالمي، ليصبح بذلك أول موقع في البلاد يحظى بهذا الاعتراف الدولي المرموق.
وجاء القرار خلال أعمال الدورة الثامنة والأربعين للجنة التراث العالمي التابعة لليونسكو، المنعقدة في مدينة بوسان بجمهورية كوريا، في خطوة تعكس الأهمية الاستثنائية التي يتمتع بها الموقع على المستويين البيئي والطبيعي.

وقالت مسؤولة : إن البلاد تحتفل بهذا الإنجاز كما لو أنها تعيش فرحة استقلال جديدة، مؤكدة أن إدراج الموقع يجسد إرادة شعب جنوب السودان في حماية تراثه الطبيعي والثقافي وصونه للأجيال المقبلة.
ويحتضن المشهد الطبيعي بين بوما–بادينغيلو ما يُعرف بـ«الهجرة الكبرى للنيل»، التي تُعد أكبر هجرة للثدييات البرية على وجه الأرض، إذ تعبر المنطقة سنويًا نحو ستة ملايين من ظباء الكوب أبيض الأذن، وظباء التيانغ، وغزلان منقلا، في مشهد طبيعي نادر يمتد عبر عدد من النظم البيئية الغنية بالتنوع الحيوي.
وفي الوقت ذاته، أدرجت اليونسكو الموقع على قائمة التراث العالمي المعرض للخطر، بهدف حشد الدعم الدولي العاجل وتوفير التمويل والخبرات الفنية اللازمة لحمايته من التهديدات المتزايدة، وفي مقدمتها الصيد الجائر، وتدهور الموائل الطبيعية، والضغوط المرتبطة بتغير المناخ.
الحياة البرية وخزينة الدولة
تنعكس أهمية الحياة البرية بشكل مباشر على الاقتصاد الوطني، إذ يمكن لقطاع السياحة البيئية أن يوفر دخلاً كبيرًا للدولة من خلال استقطاب الزوار والباحثين والمصورين من مختلف أنحاء العالم. كما يسهم هذا القطاع في توفير فرص عمل للمجتمعات المحلية في مجالات الإرشاد السياحي، والفندقة، والنقل، والخدمات، والصناعات التقليدية، مما يرفع مستوى الدخل ويحسن الأوضاع المعيشية.
إضافة إلى ذلك، تساهم الحياة البرية في الحفاظ على التوازن البيئي، إذ تؤدي الحيوانات والنباتات دورًا مهمًا في استدامة النظم البيئية، وحماية الموارد المائية، والحد من آثار التغير المناخي، كما تدعم التنوع البيولوجي الذي يُعد أساسًا للزراعة والرعي، وهما من أهم القطاعات الاقتصادية في جنوب السودان.
تحديات ينبغي ازالتها
رغم هذه الإمكانات الكبيرة لبلادنا ، تواجه الحياة البرية تحديات عديدة، أبرزها الصيد الجائر، والتعديات على المحميات الطبيعية، وقطع الأشجار، وضعف الإمكانات المخصصة لحماية البيئة، إضافة إلى تأثير النزاعات المسلحة التي أدت في بعض المناطق إلى تراجع أعداد الحيوانات وهجرة الكثير منها.
ولتحويل الحياة البرية إلى مصدر اقتصادي مستدام، تحتاج الحكومة إلى تعزيز حماية المحميات الوطنية، وتطوير البنية التحتية السياحية، وتدريب الكوادر العاملة في مجال حماية البيئة، وتشجيع الاستثمار المحلي والأجنبي في السياحة البيئية، إلى جانب رفع وعي المواطنين بأهمية المحافظة على الموارد الطبيعية باعتبارها ثروة وطنية للأجيال القادمة.
وقفة تأمل
إن الحياة البرية ليست مجرد مشاهد طبيعية خلابة، بل هي مورد اقتصادي واستراتيجي يمكن أن يسهم في تنويع مصادر الدخل الوطني وتقليل الاعتماد على النفط. وإذا أُديرت هذه الثروة بحكمة، فإنها ستصبح أحد أهم محركات التنمية الاقتصادية، وستعزز مكانة جنوب السودان كوجهة عالمية للسياحة البيئية وحماية التنوع الحيوي.
ومن المتوقع أن يسهم هذا الإدراج في تعزيز حضور جنوب السودان على خريطة السياحة البيئية العالمية، ودعم جهود الحفاظ على التنوع البيولوجي، إلى جانب فتح المجال أمام شراكات دولية أوسع لحماية أحد أهم المشاهد الطبيعية ومواطن الحياة البرية في القارة الأفريقية.
