FULL-SCALE SIMULATION EXERCISE AT THE FREETOWN INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT SATURDAY, 18 APRIL 2026

The Freetown International Airport Limited (FIA Ltd) will conduct a full-scale simulation of its Airport Emergency Plan (AEP) on Saturday, 18 April 2026, from 10:00 hrs to 12:00 hrs.

This exercise reflects the Airport’s continued commitment to emergency preparedness and effective safety response, in compliance with regulatory requirements set by the Sierra Leone Civil Aviation Authority. A live fire simulation will take place at Apron 3.

The exercise is carefully planned and will not disrupt flight operations. All passenger journeys and scheduled flights will proceed as normal. During the exercise, members of the public may observe: Smoke in the vicinity of the old airport area Deployment of firefighters and emergency response teams Movement of emergency service vehicles within the airport and along major roads in Lungi.

The simulation will be conducted in collaboration with aerodrome response agencies and mutual aid partners.
