In the morning, this district feels like another world – quiet, sun-drenched, with old ladies hanging laundry above cobbled alleys like victory flags waving against modern monotony. 👉

Nightlife in Trastevere is pure contrast – ancient churches, street art, cacio e pepe and the rhythm of Roman youth under the stars.

We begin and end today in Santana. It is the best access road to the highest point of Madeira, Pico Ruivo, at 1862 m above sea level. The name of the village of Santana is a shortening and reduction of the name Santa Anna. How to climb to roof of Madeira :-)

There is an access road in Santana to the highest hill of Madeira. The Pico Ruivo hiking trail is not difficult. It offers great views.

I don’t know what I’m getting into. My plan is that I don’t have a plan. I have an idea and an approximate route. And I still have a Mayo bike and a head full of ideas that I need to sort out. I’m curious to see what will come of it at the end of the year. On a bike across Australia to restart yourself.
