Five Eco-Steps to Take in the New Year
Go travelling, find a new job, renovate your apartment – you've probably already made your must-do list for 2025. But what if you add five simple steps that can help make the world around you a little better?
🌍Step 1: Save Resources
According to statistics, about a billion people worldwide suffer from a lack of clean water — only 3% of all water on the planet is suitable for drinking.
Closing the tap while brushing your teeth can save about 15 liters of water, and taking a shower instead of a bath can save 150 liters. Installing an aerator can halve the water flow per minute.
🌍Step 2: Reduce Waste
Reducing waste is just as important as recycling it properly. Today, almost every disposable item has a reusable alternative. In the new year, try to replace plastic bags with cloth shoppers, refuse to-go coffee cups in favor of tumblers, and avoid buying bottled water.
🌍Step 3: Give Items a Second Life
How much of your wardrobe do you wear regularly? Half, maybe even just 20%. The rest stays in the closet until it eventually ends up in the trash.
Share items you no longer need, reuse them instead of disposal. Not only will the new owner thank you, but so will the planet.
🌍Step 4: Plant Trees
According to statistics, the world's forest area decreases by 5 km² every day. If every person plants at least one tree in the new year, there will be 7.6 billion more trees, providing us with tons of oxygen.
🌍Step 5: Choose Eco-Friendly Transport
Automobiles contribute to over 80% of air pollution, so it's worth considering an environmentally friendly alternative. Today, these are uST transport and infrastructure complexes. They are highly eco-friendly: low material consumption, minimal land use, and electric motors. Transport should coexist peacefully with nature and not conflict with it, complement it and not replace it – this is the approach UST Inc. adheres to in developing its solutions.
