We made a risky decision to book a return flight arriving on a Tuesday at 3:40pm.

One of the common questions we receive is whether pets can reach CAPQ before it closes. On Mondays & Tuesdays, CAPQ closes at 5:00pm, which leaves very little room for delays.

We want to experience this ourselves, we explored various options to expedite the clearance process, but unfortunately, none could be guaranteed or proven reliable.

Thankfully, our flight arrived 30 minutes earlier than scheduled, giving us just enough time to complete the necessary procedures.

To all travelling pawrents, we strongly recommend booking a return flight that arrives at least 2 hours before CAPQ closes. This gives you sufficient buffer time for handover procedures and allows you to prepare your pet for the short separation during clearance.

A little planning can make the journey home smoother and less stressful for both you and your furkid. 🐾✈️

Travelling with your furkid in Japan🐾🇯🇵

We don’t plan our meals around restaurants.

Because not many places allow pets indoors.

We stay flexible:
🚗 Eating in the car
🏡 Dining in our accomodation
🌿 Finding a quiet garden spot
🪑 Using communal areas when available
👦 👧 Taking turns to eat

It’s all part of the journey when you travel with your furkid in Japan. We do not sneak Uni into restaurants.

But when you’re lucky,
you’ll find pet-friendly spots and have more choices.

Pawcursion on the Shinkansen 🐾✨

First ride - the station staff spotted our pet carrier and came over to arrange pet fee.

Second ride — we went to ask and pay in advance but were told it’s free 😅

What matters most: Pets are allowed onboard 🚅 but must be safely secured in a carrier.

Every journey may be a little different, so always check with station staff before you board.

Airlines prioritise safety and comfort when it comes to pet travel.

When your pet:
✔️ fits comfortably in the carrier
✔️ remains calm
✔️ is clearly within the weight and size limit

The check in process can be smooth.

That said, always be prepared.
If it’s borderline, checks can be strict and decisions can change.

Many assume Business Class is the most comfortable option, but when travelling with pets, this may not always be the case.

Sometimes Economy Class may be a safer and less stressful option, as there are usually more seats allocated for pets travelling in cabin.

We fully respect the airline’s policies and understand that these procedures are in place for safety.

We truly appreciate airlines that allow pets in cabin, making it possible for pawrents to stay close to their furkids throughout the journey.
