Last week the supported by EMURGO, Cardano Foundation and Input Output (IOHK) concluded a very insightful CIP-1694 workshop in Edinburgh with a number of notable takeaways.

Some of the main focus points of the discussion centered on community tooling, a basic Cardano Constitution with inclusion of the community, on-chain identification, treasury withdrawals, deposits for governance, and more.

There is still a lot of work to be done to ensure fair, transparent, credible, and accessible on-chain Cardano governance for the entire community and the future of .

Under CIP-1694's proposal for decentralized on-chain governance, Delegate Representatives (DReps) will be one of the five self-governance roles for the community.

What are some of the details of the CIP-1694 DReps thus far?

Let's look at it further 👇

To ensure the efficiency of the voting process, the community can delegate their stakes and votes through a group of selected DReps who are registered members of the community able to vote on behalf of other members. Members can also delegate to different DReps if they wish.

The proposal is to allow members of the to register, receive a DRep ID, and receive the delegation of the community, making the role accessible to the entire community. Further details are one of the main discussion topics of the ongoing CIP-1694 workshops.

The accumulated stake being delegated to a DRep is the amount of voting power they will have for proposals. DReps adjust to the needs of the network and are incentivized by the voting power they receive from their delegation.

As you might know, the importance of blockchain communities cannot be trivialized. Members of the community including users and developers play a very critical role in the development, expansion and ultimately mass adoption of certain ecosystems and projects.
