We Swedes love our cinnamon buns. And the forest. And the archipelago.

Today, we got all three as we explored the islands around Boskapsön, just outside Dalarö in the southern Stockholm archipelago. A pretty great combination, if you ask us.

The legendary diver, explorer and oceanographer Jacques-Yves Cousteau once said:

A day in the Stockholm Archipelago. 🌊

🎉Lördagen den 5 september firar vi att Sveriges yngsta nationalpark, Nämdöskärgårdens nationalpark, fyller 1 år. 🎉

Följ med oss på en heldagstur till Bullerö, nationalparkens huvudentré. Väl framme väntar ett jubileumsprogram med parkens guidade aktiviteter och föreläsningar. Tid finns även till att äta medhavd lunch och vandra runt ön på egen hand.

Vi utgår från Dalarö på förmiddagen och vänder hemåt under eftermiddagen. Resan tar ca 45 minuter och på väg ut passerar vi bland annat Dalarö skans, Ornö och nationalparkens myllrande kobbar och skär - självklart håller vi utkik efter sjöfågel, säl och annat djurliv. 🦅🦭

The Stockholm Archipelago is a landscape of contrasts. Forest-covered islands give way to bare, windswept rocks as you make your way further out.

Pine trees, smooth granite, sheltered bays and open sea – all part of the same archipelago.

What an evening. 🌅

Friday on the water, lovely guests on board our open boat, dinner at beautiful .island – and a sunset on the way back to the city.

Not a bad way to spend a Friday evening. 🚤🌊

The archipelago changes with the season. So does the experience. 🍂

Migrating birds are on the move, the islands are quieter and there’s time for walks, mushroom picking and exploring ashore. And as the evenings grow darker, there’s more time for stargazing – and, every now and then, a chance of catching the northern lights.

There’s a reason autumn out here is known as the magic season.

And there’s still plenty to experience from the water. We’ll keep heading out well into autumn – with the boat ride, time ashore and the changing landscape all part of the day.
