Sometimes rebellion doesn’t need to scream—it can just flash a red sole under your jeans.

I walked by the shop on Drottninggatan, promising myself (yet again) that I wouldn’t buy anything. Then I saw the last pair of 1461 Year of the Snake—red soles, snake emblem, and all the q***r, working-class spirit stitched right in.

So yes, I tapped them into my platinum card.
Yes, I told myself I’d live cheaper next month.
And yes, I walked out feeling a little taller, a little more unwilling to blend in.

🖤 Tell me: Is it still rebellion when it’s this curated? Or does it matter, as long as it still feels like freedom?

Goodbye .guide – Hello .Cafe

Today marks the end of a chapter that’s been filled with early flights, spontaneous detours, hidden gems, and the joy of helping others explore this incredible world. .guide is officially signing off as a travel blog and advisor account.

From the bottom of my heart: thank you to every traveler, follower, and friend who joined me on this journey. Your trust, your questions, your shared curiosity – it’s all meant more than I can ever say in a caption.

But while the travel consulting part ends here, the storytelling continues – just in a new form.

This account will now transform into .Cafe – a photo blog where I share the world not through itineraries, but through images. Expect tranquil forests, wide open skies, urban corners, and small quiet scenes that linger in the mind. A digital café of captured moments, brewed slowly and served with heart.

So if you’re here for beautiful visuals, thoughtful reflections, and the occasional geeky camera talk – you’re in the right place.

Thank you for staying. For caring. And for continuing to walk beside me.

→ Stay tuned and follow .Cafe as this next chapter unfolds.

Citadellet in Landskrona: From Fortress to Living Memory

Tucked beside the Öresund strait in southern Sweden, Citadellet in Landskrona isn’t just a photogenic relic—it’s a layered story of power, punishment, and perseverance. Built in the 16th century by Danish King Christian III, this moated fortress began as a bold military outpost. Its architecture is all drama: thick brick walls, surrounding waters, and a stillness that whispers of past secrets.

Over centuries, Citadellet morphed with the times—from fortress to prison, and later, even a refugee camp. During its prison years, it held those who often had no other crime than being poor. One of my own ancestors served time here. His offense? Poverty and unemployment. A painful reminder that not all chains are forged by choice, and not all histories make the postcards.

In the 20th century, the site was repurposed as a refugee shelter, offering temporary hope to those fleeing war and oppression—a full-circle moment for a place once built to keep people out. Today, Citadellet is a museum, inviting us to witness Sweden’s complicated relationship with class, migration, and justice.

It’s a beautiful walk from Landskrona’s city center, and the views over the water are perfect for slow reflection. Come for the history, stay for the humanity.

Tip: Pack a fika and wander the gardens—lush and peaceful, in stark contrast to what once was.

Wild Yet Willing: A Close-Up Encounter at Löddeköpinge’s Deer Enclosure

If you’ve been charmed by the majestic deer roaming Kongens Have in Copenhagen, you’ll want to add a little detour to your next Skåne adventure. Just 25 minutes by car from Malmö, tucked into the peaceful Löddeköpinge Sandskog, lies a small but surprisingly intimate deer enclosure.

Unlike the more elusive herds in Kongens Have—beautiful but often shy—Löddeköpinge’s deer have become unexpectedly tame. Thanks to a steady stream of friendly locals offering carrots and crusty bread (not the best diet, but here we are), these gentle creatures are happy to stroll right up to the fence.

The result? Perfect conditions for close-up photography. Even without a zoom lens, you can capture those soulful eyes and velvety antlers in crisp detail—no camouflage or waiting games required.

While the number of deer is smaller than in the grand royal park of Copenhagen, the photo opportunities here are far superior for those of us packing lightweight gear or just aiming for that perfect Insta moment without a full wildlife setup.

So, which wins: the royal crowd or the friendly few? Kongens Have still holds the crown for size and spectacle, but for photogenic charm and a more personal encounter, Löddeköpinge quietly steals the show.

Bring your camera, skip the bread (please!), and soak in the serene beauty of Skåne’s underrated woodland gem.

Plane Spotter’s Paradise: Why LHR Terminal 4 Is a Hidden Gem for Aviation Lovers

If you know, you know—Heathrow isn’t just one of the world’s busiest airports, it’s a dream playground for plane spotters. And while most flock to the perimeter roads or the ever-popular Myrtle Avenue, I’ve got a secret for you: Terminal 4 is where the real magic happens.

Tucked on the southern edge of LHR, Terminal 4 gives you front-row seats to Runway 27L, one of the airport’s most active runways. From my go-to vantage point near the terminal windows, I’ve spotted everything from an Emirates A380 to the sleek lines of Qatar’s Dreamliner. The variety is stunning—think Asian heavies, Gulf giants, and the odd retro-livery gem.

Unlike crowded outdoor spots, T4 lets you plane-watch in comfort—climate-controlled, coffee in hand, and no risk of your phone dying in the rain. There’s decent seating, panoramic windows, and, if you’re lucky, a clear view straight across the tarmac as aircraft line up, take off, and land in mesmerizing succession.

And here’s a tip: time your visit for late afternoon, when golden hour meets the long-haul evening rush. The light’s perfect for photography, and the sky fills with metal birds from every corner of the globe.

Whether you’re a seasoned AvGeek or just a curious traveler with time to kill, Terminal 4 is an underrated haven. No ladders, no fences—just you, your lens, and some of the world’s most beautiful machines.

3 Birdwatching Gems in Skåne – From City Parks to Crane Spectacles

Bird photography in Skåne isn’t just a spring pastime—it’s a soulful way to connect with nature, whether you’re walking through a city park or standing in silence as cranes dance at sunset. Here are three of my personal favorite spots that offer unforgettable birdwatching experiences—and yes, they’re perfect for your camera roll.

1. Malmö’s City Park (Slottsparken & Kungsparken)
Let’s begin in Malmö, where nature and urban life co-exist in harmony. In the heart of the city, I recently captured a talgoxe (Great Tit) posing like a model between the old trees. You don’t need a car or hiking boots—just a good eye and a bit of patience. Perfect for beginners and a spontaneous birding break between museum visits or coffee dates.

2. Västra Ringsjön Nature Reserve
A quieter, more immersive experience awaits at Västra Ringsjön. It’s a spot where you’ll likely walk alone, except for the company of rustling leaves and layered birdsong. That’s where I caught a stare (European Starling) shimmering in the morning light. The reserve offers both open lakeshore and dense forest edges, perfect for those looking to refine their skills in a peaceful setting.

3. Pulken – Crane Season’s Main Stage
And finally: Pulken. Each spring, thousands of tranor (common cranes) stop here during their migration, turning the fields into a stage of graceful movement and echoing calls. A well-built platform helps manage the crowd, and the sunsets? Utterly cinematic. Come prepared—it gets chilly, but the photo opportunities are pure magic.

What’s your favorite birdwatching spot in Skåne or beyond? Tag it below—I’m always looking for new places to explore!

Discover Sweden’s Ancient 1000-Year-Old Oak at Bosjökloster

Nestled near Höör in the heart of Skåne, bosjoklosterslott is home to a remarkable natural monument—the Millennium Oak, a majestic tree that’s stood for over a thousand years. This ancient oak has witnessed centuries of history, from Bosjöklosters origins as a Benedictine nunnery in 1080 to its transformation into the castle we see today.

In the early 14th century, Sweden’s oak population faced near extinction due to overharvesting for shipbuilding and construction. Remarkably, the Millennium Oak survived, standing today with a trunk circumference nearing 10 meters.

Beyond its historical significance, ancient oaks like this are vital for biodiversity. They support up to 2,300 species, including birds, mammals, insects, fungi, and lichens. These trees create unique ecosystems, offering habitats and sustenance essential for many organisms’ survival.

Visiting Bosjökloster offers more than just a glimpse into history. The castle grounds feature over 200 varieties of roses, serene gardens, and scenic views of Lake Ringsjön. It’s an ideal spot for a tranquil retreat into nature.

: For a memorable experience, visit during the annual Rose Day in July, when the gardens are in full bloom.

Wake Up Floating on a Swedish Lake Dream

Just spent a magical weekend with at — and honestly? This floating cabin experience on Ringsjön is one for the books. From the moment we arrived, the warm welcome made us feel instantly at home (and just a little bit like lake royalty).

The igloo itself? Totally unique. Imagine waking up with the still waters of Ringsjön literally half a meter from your toes, morning mist curling around your private deck. We grilled dinner under the open sky, warm tea in hand, with nothing but birdsong and the sound of water lapping at the edges.

And here’s the best part — an SUP is included! Paddling around the lake at sunset was hands-down the highlight. Peaceful, a little playful, and the perfect active reset.

If you’re craving a Swedish micro-adventure that blends comfort, nature, and a dash of the unexpected, this is it.

Discover Forsakar: Skåne’s Wild Waterfall Wonderland

Hidden deep in the forested heart of Österlen, Forsakar Nature Reserve offers one of Skåne’s most dramatic natural sights—Skåne’s highest waterfall, cascading down the ancient ravine like a wild secret begging to be found. If you’re craving an active escape with raw beauty and a touch of mystery, Forsakar delivers.

Now, a word of advice for fellow adventurers: the trail down in the ravine is officially closed due to fallen trees—and after making an attempt myself (yes, rebel mode ON), I quickly realized nature means business. The path is heavily blocked, and it’s simply not safe to continue.

But don’t turn back just yet.

Take the left-hand trail instead. It gently winds along the rim and leads to a breathtaking viewpoint overlooking the falls. From there, you’ll see the water thunder down through the mossy gorge—an epic reward with zero risk of getting trapped under a tree trunk. It’s safe, accessible, and utterly photogenic.

Perfect for both young and old, Forsakar is ideal for a spring day trip. There’s magic in the air—birdsong, rushing water, and the earthy scent of the ravine. Pack a fika, lace up those boots, and go feel small next to something ancient.

Tag a friend you’d hike this with and save for your next Skåne adventure!

Birdwatching by the Öresund Bridge: Malmö’s Hidden Nature Escape

Just minutes from central Malmö, at the base of the iconic Öresund Bridge, Bunkeflo Strandängar has quietly become one of southern Sweden’s top birdwatching spots.

This coastal wetland is now a true paradise for bird lovers—hosting everything from majestic spoonbills and marsh harriers to rare migratory species. The unique location, where urban design meets untouched nature, offers an unforgettable contrast: steel above, songbirds below.

Whether you’re a seasoned birder or just love a peaceful escape with stunning views, this spot is pure gold. Easy to reach by bike or local bus, it’s perfect for a weekend outing with binoculars and a thermos in tow.

Nature is alive and well in Malmö—and it has wings.

From Business to Budget: My Surprisingly Luxe Saudia Economy Experience

After flying saudi_airlines business class from London, I braced myself for the return journey in economy. It had been ages since I did a long-haul in the back—and I was low-key dreading it. Think: cramped knees, sleepless hours, and food that barely counts. But I figured it would be a good test run before Tokyo and Seoul later this year.

Spoiler alert: I was wrong.

At check-in in Riyadh, I was given a full row of three seats. Yes, economy turned flatbed! What started as a midday flight turned into a surprisingly restful nap session.

The hospitality began right after takeoff with Arabic coffee and dates—such a sweet and authentic touch. Soon after, a full three-course meal was served. While not business-class level, it hit the spot and left me properly full.

But the real cherry on top? Saudia handed out amenity kits even in economy. A pouch with socks, eyeshade, and toothbrush—small gesture, big impression. It’s rare these days to see that level of care for budget travelers, and honestly, more airlines should take notes.

Saudia might not be top of mind for many European travelers, but after this experience, it’s earned a spot on my radar—not just for the business perks, but for making economy feel… dare I say, dignified?

Would you try Saudia for your next long-haul? Drop your thoughts below!

Golden Moments at Mövenpick Riyadh – A True Oasis in the City

Checked into movenpickriyadh and was greeted with the kind of hospitality that stays with you long after check-out. Thanks to my accor Gold status, I received a courtesy upgrade to a suite—spacious, stylish, and perfect for unwinding after a long journey.

Even before my room was ready, the team welcomed me to enjoy breakfast and relax in the Executive Lounge. That kind of gesture sets the tone, and wow—it didn’t disappoint. The lounge is large, bright, and offers a stunning panoramic view over KAFD’s futuristic skyline. Riyadh’s bold ambition feels close enough to touch.

Here’s where things got even better: breakfast and cocktail hour were seamlessly combined, meaning I had everything I needed, food-wise, without ever leaving the lounge. A special shout-out to Mustafa, the lounge waiter, whose kindness and attention to detail made every visit feel personal. He’s one of those rare people who remembers your preferences and checks in with genuine warmth.

And yes, I managed a quick dip in the rooftop pool—and let me tell you, it was exactly what I needed. Cool, refreshing, and blissfully quiet.

In a city that buzzes with energy, Mövenpick Riyadh is a pearl of peace and quality—with both excellent facilities and top-tier service. It’s the kind of place that respects your time and elevates your stay in all the right ways.
