This week, our company undertook a challenging and rewarding task, showcasing our expertise in providing interpretation (from and into French, English, Spanish, Russian, Ukrainian, and Arabic) at the Stockholm Forum on Peace and Development. The forum, an annual gathering of global leaders, policymakers, and experts, relies on our interpreters to ensure smooth and effective communication across language barriers.

This year, the forum's theme was" On the Edge: Navigating a Changing World". This assignment gives interpreters a unique opportunity to contribute to important global conversations and make a tangible impact on the world stage. By facilitating communication and understanding between participants from diverse backgrounds and perspectives, interpreters play a crucial role in helping to advance cooperation, dialogue, and progress on some of the most pressing issues facing the international community.

Overall, interpreting at the Stockholm Forum on Peace and Development is a demanding yet fulfilling role that requires a combination of linguistic ability, subject matter expertise, and strong interpersonal skills. As interpreters work behind the scenes to ensure that conversations flow smoothly and meaningfully, they help to bridge divides, build connections, and promote a more peaceful and prosperous world for all.

As February is slowly but surely moving towards March, we start looking for spring signs, regardless of whether it is a coltsfoot or ads, marketing new sailboats.

However, we in the language services branch have our own sure spring signs: Annual General Meetings, a k a AGM. Shareholders in practically all Swedish companies quoted on the Stockholm Stock Exchange come from different parts of the world. They need simultaneous interpreting during the General meetings to make their voices heard.

We note gladly and proudly that many returning customers have already booked our services for their General Meetings and hope to gain new customers for their spring events.

In essence, the general meeting of shareholders serves as a symbolic spring sign for a company, embodying growth, renewal, collaboration, and the promise of a vibrant and prosperous future. It marks a pivotal moment in the corporate calendar where stakeholders come together to shape the organization's destiny. It's when everyone gathers to speak about the company's happenings and decide what's next, sharing fresh ideas and plans sprouting up.

Think of it as a teamwork blossom - shareholders, board members, and executives all join in for a chat. New stuff gets revealed, like growth plans and promising projects. Shareholders get to vote on important things, like picking directors and giving a thumbs up to financial reporting.

Yesterday was dedicated to the State visit of the French President Emmanuel Macron to Sweden when our company was selected to supply professional services both to the Royal Palace @ https://www.kungahuset.se and the Governmental Offices @ https://www.government.se

As we all know, interpreting is anything but basking in the glory of international attention. On the contrary, the best interpreters are those, whose presence is never noticed. Even more so, during high-level meetings.

During these high-profile visits, accurate cross-cultural understanding is of utmost importance. The company's team of skilled interpreters assisted in conducting robust dialogue and collaborative discussions between President Macron and his Swedish counterparts.

We thank our interpreters and technical team for their contribution, that not only strengthens diplomatic ties but also emphasizes the vital role language services play in promoting mutual understanding and collaboration between nations.

Last week we had the pleasure of working on a project for Strawberry Hotels and are thrilled to note that it was a pleasure for all parties involved.

There was a lot of fun stuff and humor in the subject of the meeting, which was challenging to convey in another language. Humor is often more difficult to interpret than arbitration hearings or political summits.

The customer was very helpful and provided us with the documentation, hugely contributing to the success.

As 2023 is ending, we proudly note that Polyglott ConInter AB achieved remarkable growth and expanded its work scope by diversifying and adding new customers. Even more important, many new customers have already become returning ones.

We managed to connect with and supply our services to new sectors and companies, which is both challenging and exciting. We have finetuned online simultaneous interpreting (or RSI – remote simultaneous interpreting), making it smoother and more user-friendly. We feel confident that this and other improvements will stand us in good stead during the following year.

Our Framework agreement with the Swedish Environmental Protection Agency (Naturvårdsverket in Swedish) has been extended again. We have been their supplier of interpreting and translation services since 2015! We are deeply grateful for their continued trust and partnership.

As we step into the new year, we want to thank our customers and interpreters for their trust and support.

We wish you a prosperous 2024 from beautiful and snow-covered Sweden!

Last week, we provided top-notch interpreting services for the high-level meeting organized by the Swedish Trade Union Confederation and hosted by IF Metall.

The meeting was attended by Swedish and international trade union leaders, as well as members of the Board of Directors of OSE – European Social Observatory, a Brussels-based not-for-profit research center specialized in the social dimension of the European Union (EU).

One of the central agenda points was a discussion of ETUC's "golden rule of public investment," the strategy to avoid severe cuts in public spending that will result in lower employment and higher poverty.

Our mission was to ensure smooth communication during these critical discussions and facilitate a seamless exchange of ideas.

Last week, Polyglott ConInter AB supplied interpreters to a well-attended event - WIND2023, the most significant meeting place for the wind power industry in Northern Europe.

Sweden set a record at the beginning of this year, generating more than a quarter of Sweden's electricity from wind power for two consecutive months. The milestone comes after years of investment in renewables - a push that is "paying off." Sweden is rapidly extending its offshore wind capacity, as higher wind generation makes the country's grid more resilient against droughts and protects consumers from increased costs.

During the past three days Polyglott ConInter AB has been working at the meeting, organized by the Swedish Supreme Administrative Court - https://www.domstol.se/en/supreme-administrative-court/- and ACA-Europe - https://www.aca-europe.eu/index.php/en/ .

ACA-Europe is a European association composed of the Court of Justice of the European Union as well as the Councils of State and the Supreme administrative jurisdictions of each of the members of the European Union. Thus, ACA-Europe is a unique network of Supreme Administrative Jurisdictions, extending across 34 European states.

The goals of the organization are to exchange ideas on the rule of law and harmonize European Supreme Administrative Courts, as well as keep an ongoing dialogue between ACA-Europe and the European Commission and other European bodies monitoring respect for the rule of law in Europe is vital.

This week, we met again our beloved and colorful (literary and figuratively) customer – Gudrun Sjödén AB. Such assignments are a feast for the eyes and ears, many happy participants, and a real inspiration for our interpreters.

Gudrun Sjödén is one of Sweden's most successful designers with worldwide sales. For almost forty years, she has been reaching target groups that the fashion industry often deliberately excludes, creating garments for women who dare to stand out from the crowd.

For many, the colorful, patterned, and comfortable garments in permissive shapes symbolize freedom and artistry.

Gudrun's design is often compared to Frida Kahlo's paintings. Suppose you take a closer look at Gudrun Sjödén's clothes and design. In that case, you realize that, like Frida Kahlo, she presents herself through her art as a strong and exotic person who not only has opinions so hot that they sometimes tend to be uncomfortable but also dares to stand up for them.

Summer leave is over, and we are back at the office!

Yes, we really did have our summer leave, though our customers might have never been able to uncover this great secret 😊, as we were answering their emails just as usual…

During the next two months, Polyglott ConInter AB is assisting the country’s nuclear power sector: we are sending a team of interpreters to support international inspections of nuclear power plants. The assignment is even more relevant given the government’s energy policy in general and nuclear power in particular.

The days are getting cooler and shorter; the evenings are darker… This feeling can be defined with the Swedish word VEMOD, the word that best encapsulates the Swedish psyche. The closest English translation is wistfulness – a kind of sorrow lined with a longing for things that have been and are still to come.

Remember watching Ingmar Bergman’s movies? The often shilly-shally characters, trying to find the meaning of life and never arriving at any conclusions? That’s VEMOD for you. Picture the solitude of the vast northern Swedish forests, the feeling of regret at the end of summer… That’s VEMOD too…

We, however, are not planning to be VEMOD. On the contrary: this fall looks promising; many projects are already confirmed, and contracts signed; it feels pretty good to be back to work 😊.

Last week, Monday through Friday, we provided interpretation for a high-level delegation from Colombia organized by Business Sweden and Cecoforma Events & Communication.

The visit started in Stockholm, where the delegation participated in the conference Vision Zero, dedicated to road safety and sustainable transport: https://bransch.trafikverket.se/en/visionzero/vision-zero-conference-2023/about-vision-zero-conference/

The Colombian delegation visited Swedish manufacturers of trucks and buses – Scania south of Stockholm and Volvo in Gothenburg, followed by meetings with the Swedish Transport Administration and Regional Public Transportation Operators in Stockholm and Western Sweden.

The last day of the visit was dedicated to Smart City Sweden – www.smartcitysweden.com – a platform for sustainable and innovative solutions for mobility, climate, and environment, as well as urban planning.

Today and tomorrow Polyglott ConInter AB is assisting -nordic.com and ://www.ecoanimalhealthgroupplc.com/ at the international conference on Animal Health held in Stockholm.

The focus of the organizers is developing preventative vaccines and innovative biological treatments.

Many high-ranking professionals from different countries are attending the event, dedicated to the sustainable growth of the livestock sector, spreading the knowledge to improve the health and welfare of pigs and poultry.
