✨ Meet the faces behind the scenes at BDPNext Sweden!

Next up from our cruise team is Project Assistant Shayanka, who plays a key role in making sure cruise guests have an unforgettable experience in Sweden. 🇸🇪🛳️

Originally from Sri Lanka, Shayanka started at the pier in the summer of 2023 while studying economics, and in spring 2024, she joined the office team. Her focus is on communicating with the shore excursions' managers on the ships and ensuring top-level service. 🙌

▪️ What’s your role in BDPNext, and what do you enjoy most about welcoming cruise guests to Sweden?
– My role is working as a Project Assistant for BDPNext Sweden and I enjoy welcoming cruise guests from all parts of the world to Sweden.

▪️ What’s one local experience you think every cruise guest should try during their visit?
– Visiting the Vasa Museum and the Viking Museum in Stockholm that have lots of rich local history and stories to tell.

▪️ What’s something people might not realize goes into organizing a smooth day ashore?
– Hmmmm...continuous email communication with the ship's Shorex (shore excursions team) and suppliers to ensure that everything is in place.

▪️ What’s your favorite moment when working with international guests?
– I get to meet guests with different personalities and it's interesting to learn a few new words in a different language to be able greet the guests in their native language 😊

🌸 Midsummer in Sweden – Glad Midsommar! 🇸🇪

Midsummer (Midsommar) is one of Sweden’s most beloved holidays – a joyful celebration of light, nature, and togetherness held around the summer solstice, the longest day of the year.

It’s a time to escape the city, head to summer cottages, lakesides or the archipelago, and enjoy the outdoors with friends and family.

Here’s how we Swedes celebrate:�
🌿 Raise and dance around the majstång (maypole)�
🌸 Wear flower crowns made of wildflowers�
🎶 Sing & dance – yes, even adults hop like frogs to Små grodorna!�

🌸 Meet Kristyna – Project Assistant at BDPNext Sweden! 🌸

Originally from the Czech Republic, Kristyna joined our Stockholm cruise team in Dec 2024 after completing her Master’s in Tourism Studies. She loves the variety in her role - from planning tours to working with guides and suppliers - and is passionate about creating unforgettable guest experiences.

✨ What’s one must-do in Sweden for cruise guests?
“Stroll around Södermalm, have a fika with filtered coffee and a sweet bun, and explore a second-hand shop or two!”

✨ Something people don’t realize about cruise planning?
“All the prep – coordinating suppliers, guides, and transport to make sure the day runs smoothly.”

✨ Favorite moment with guests?
“Recommending my favorite local spots and seeing them enjoy it!”
