RTI brings Europe’s top dosimetry experts to Gothenburg

RTI, a global provider of quality assurance (QA) solutions for diagnostic radiology, had the honour of hosting the final meeting of the EURAMET project 22NRM01 TraMeXI – Traceability in Medical X-ray Imaging Dosimetry, held on 11–12 May 2026 at Quality Hotel The Weaver in Gothenburg, Sweden.

The meeting concluded a 2.5-year European collaboration aimed at strengthening future standards and methodologies for medical X-ray dosimetry, helping to improve QA, measurement accuracy, and patient safety across medical imaging.

Led by STUK, the Finnish radiation and nuclear safety authority, the TraMeXI project brought together national metrology institutes, hospitals, and manufacturers from across Europe with the shared goal of improving radiation measurement accuracy and strengthening patient safety in medical imaging. As one of the project’s industry stakeholders, RTI contributed more than 40 years of expertise in X-ray testing and QA, supporting the advancement of traceable and standardized dosimetry practices throughout the project. With the launch of Mako in 2023, RTI introduced a new generation platform for modern X-ray QA, reinforcing the company’s long-term commitment to innovation, measurement accuracy, and patient safety.

“One of the most valuable outcomes of TraMeXI has been the strong collaboration between research institutes, healthcare professionals, and industry experts across Europe. By working together, we have helped create a stronger foundation for future dosimetry standards and more reliable quality assurance in medical imaging," says Sören Sturesson, Product Manager & Technical Manager Calibrations at RTI.

During the meeting, participants also visited RTI’s headquarters and calibration laboratories in Gothenburg, where the company showcased its ISO 17025-accredited calibration capabilities and ongoing commitment to high-quality standards in X-ray QA.
The results of the TraMeXI project are expected to inform future updates of international standards and guidelines, including IEC 61674 and IAEA TRS 457, supporting more harmonized and reliable dosimetry practices worldwide.

RTI was proud to welcome project partners and collaborators to Gothenburg for this important final meeting and looks forward to continued international cooperation to advance medical imaging quality assurance and patient safety.

RTI reports strong Mako growth in North America in Q1
Gothenburg, Sweden, May 4 2026

RTI, a global provider of quality assurance (QA) solutions for diagnostic radiology, reports continued growth for its Mako X-ray QA platform in North America during the first quarter of 2026.
In the United States, the largest and most competitive QA market, Mako sales increased by approximately 20% year-on-year. The growth reflects continued demand for high-precision measurement solutions combined with efficient digital workflows, despite a more uncertain external environment.

Steve Holmes, VP Sales North America, comments: “We are seeing strong traction for Mako across the US market. Customers are increasingly focused on both measurement performance and workflow efficiency. Mako, together with our software and cloud solutions, addresses these needs in a very tangible way.”

RTI has over time made significant investments in innovation, most recently with the introduction of the Mako Display app, which represents a further step toward more integrated and connected QA workflows, moving beyond traditional standalone devices.

Michael Olding, VP Solutions, adds: “The market is moving away from legacy solutions. Customers expect innovation, higher precision, and seamless software integration. That is where we are focused, developing future-proof solutions built to evolve, and it is a key driver behind our growth.”

North America remains a key market for RTI, with a well-established customer base across hospitals, service organizations, and OEM partners. The company continues to strengthen its position through its integrated offering, combining hardware, software, and cloud-based functionality.

RTI delivers consistent fast turnaround with full calibration capabilities in the US

RTI, a global provider of quality assurance (QA) solutions for diagnostic radiology, reports continued strong turnaround times and growth in its calibration service operations in North America during the first quarter of 2026.

The development reflects recurrent strategic investments in RTI’s calibration lab in New Jersey, as well as increasing demand from the company’s installed base, in line with its strategy of strengthening service alongside hardware and software solutions.

A key differentiator is RTI’s true adjustment calibration capability in the United States. By performing calibrations and adjustments in its US-based lab, RTI eliminates overseas shipping, enabling a faster, more predictable service process. Combined with 2-year OEM calibration, this helps customers plan with confidence, minimize downtime, and avoid the need for loaners or backup meter pools.

Turnaround time (TAT) averaged 8 days for all customers, a figure we have managed to deliver upon for many years, and the last quarter is no exception, with no need for expedited or premium services.

RTI’s calibration service goes beyond standard verification. Each calibration includes true adjustment calibrations traceable to international standards, ensuring high accuracy and long-term reliability. As an accredited lab, RTI undergoes regular third-party reviews to maintain the highest calibration standards, guaranteeing impartial, consistent processes aligned with internationally accepted requirements. In addition, each calibration includes the latest system updates for new X-ray equipment, helping customers maximize the value and performance of their investment over time.

Jennifer Dolan, General Manager, comments: “Our calibration lab setup in the US allows us to respond quickly to customer needs. By keeping service close to the market, we can offer consistently short turnaround times without the delays typically associated with overseas logistics.”

Steve Holmes, VP Sales North America, comments: “Our customers consistently highlight the value of having calibration services performed in the US. They prefer to avoid the time and complexity of shipping systems overseas. Our investment in the New Jersey lab reflects this demand, and we remain committed to further strengthening our service capabilities in the US.”

RTI continues to develop its integrated QA ecosystem, combining hardware, software, and service to support customers in maintaining safe and efficient X-ray operations.
