Hemmlis is a start-up based in Lund with the goal to establish an alternative to todays way of consuing furniture, based on a circular buisness model. We want to facilitate a possiblity for all to consume great furniture in a sustainable way without contibuting to unnecessary waste of resources and materials. During summer and autumn 2017 we are launging a pilotproject at Stenkrossen in Lund to validate our concept and test the possibilities of collecting, redesigning and leasing second hand furniture to a limited group of students in Lund. We estimate to scale up our concept during 2018 to include buisness outside of Lund and the student segment. Follow our progress on instagram or read more about us on our webpage!

A few weeks ago we received financial support from the Swedish innovation agency Vinnova to scale up our business. Simultaneously, we've managed to find a new home for our furniture and new workshop opportunities at Återbruket Myllan in Marieholm. Two good things with one stone!

In collaboration with industrial designer Andy Wolf (Mestizo, Mexico), design and interior collective Malmö Upcycling Service (M.U.S, Malmö) and freelance artist Juliane Finstad (Finstad, Lund), Showroom 009 was exhibited during Kulturnatten Lund this year at Stenkrossen.

In collaboration with MESTIZO and M.U.S. (Malmö Upcycling Service), we bring together esthetics from Mexico and Latin America with contemporary Nordic design in one of our upcycled furniture collections, dedicated to limited living spaces and temporary homes.

Join us all night long at Stenkrossen for workshops, concerts, exhibitions, a Swedish fika (of course) and much more!

Created by Andres Mutis, Mexican born Swedish based designer, deeply inspired by the traditional ways and techniques of woodworking and handcrafts of the Americas and Europe. Mestizo is a term to describe a person of combined European and Amerindian descent. As a concept, Mestizo seeks to fuse European and Latin American aesthetics and sensibilities through Art and Design.

A collaboration between industrial designers Anna Gudmundsdottir, Britt Jönsson och Emilia Borgvall from LTH in Lund, fused by their mutual interests in material experimentation and enthusiasm to work with local manufacturers and craftsmen. The common aim is to spark new ideas on sustainable production and design to create better conditions for circular economy. By reclaiming industrial waste from local productions, the creation of unique small scaled products are made possible.

Our Story

Hemmlis is a start-up based in Lund with the goal to establish an alternative to todays way of consuming furniture, based on a circular buisness model. We want to facilitate the possibility for everyone to consume furniture in a sustainable way without contibuting to unnecessary waste of resources and materials. In the long run we are therefore determined to make sustainable human spaces available for the masses.

Our subscription service is currently available for students who live in one-room apartments/dorm rooms in Lund. By renting furniture with a subscription, instead of buying low-cost furniture and throwing them away after a short use cycle, we help students foster a more sustainable consumption pattern where the furniture are recollected and reused. Hemmlis är en start-up baserad i Lund med syftet att tillgängliggöra ett alternativ till modern möbelkonsumtion grundad i cirkulär ekonomi. Vi vill att det ska vara möjligt för alla att konsumera schyssta möbler på ett hållbart sätt utan att bidra till resurssvinn och onödig avfallsproduktion. I förlängningen arbetar vi därför för att tillgängliggöra hållbara mänskliga rum. Vår prenumerationstjänst är för närvarande tillgänglig för studenter som bor i ettor i Lund. Genom att hyra våra möbler genom via prenumeration, istället för att köpa billiga möbler och kasta dem efter en kort användningscykel, ser vi till att studenter får uppleva ett mer hållbart konsumtionsmönster där möblerna är återsamlade och återbrukade.
